In today’s fast-paced world, we’re constantly racing—racing toward goals, racing toward desires, racing toward the next big thing.
There’s always something to look forward to, a milestone to reach, or a desire to chase.
Yet, amidst this whirlwind of activity, one of the most precious and powerful practices is often overlooked: the art of slowing down.
We’ve all heard the phrase, “Slow down to speed up.”
It’s an essential principle, especially in our technology-driven era where everything seems to move at lightning speed.
Time feels like it’s slipping through our fingers, and societal norms, amplified by social media, push us to compare and perform.
The curated perfection we see online—picture-perfect moments frozen in time—only adds to the pressure.
But let’s be honest, so much of it is just smoke and mirrors.
🎭 The Illusions of Social Media
It’s easy to get caught up in comparisons, but the truth is, we rarely know the full story behind someone else’s success.
How long did it take them to get there?
What challenges did they face?
What support or advantages did they have—or not have?
What we see on social media can be deceiving, a carefully constructed facade, more prop than reality.
Now, imagine for a moment that social media didn’t exist—not that it should be stripped away, but just picture it.
Without those constant streams of curated inspiration, what would your norm look like?
What would you choose to inspire you?
There was a time when we looked to magazines, talk shows, or interviews for motivation.
Now, with endless sources of content, the question becomes: are these truly aligned with what you want?
Slowing down allows you to reflect on these influences and recognize unnecessary stressors that might be driving you in directions that don’t serve your deeper goals.
By stepping back, you gain clarity and can start working smarter, not harder, to achieve the life you truly desire.
🐌 The Power of Slowing Down
I’m always grateful for the moments when I can step back and observe my life from an outsider’s perspective.
It’s in those moments that I begin to truly understand what’s stressing me out and explore different ways to approach those challenges.
But this clarity only comes when I give myself permission to slow down.
First, I have to be open to an alternative perspective.
Then, I need to take the time to honestly examine what’s happening for me, what’s happening to me, and what I’m actively choosing to happen.
So often, we get caught up in the grind and fail to recognize the subtle ways stress infiltrates our lives.
These stressors can shape our behavior and drive us to act in ways that don’t serve our highest good.
Sometimes, these challenges are here to teach us valuable lessons: how to say no, how to establish boundaries, when to walk away, or even when to lean in.
But without slowing down, we miss the chance to reflect, to understand, and to grow.
That’s why I’m so excited to take some time off during the holidays.
I’m looking forward to spending quality time with my daughter, with my family, and even with myself.
This pause is a gift—a chance to reflect on the year, reconnect with what matters most, and envision the chapter I want to step into as the new year begins.
But this practice isn’t limited to the end of the year.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s January, June, or three-fourths of the way through the year—it’s always a good time to pause, reevaluate, and be present.
Slowing down allows us to open ourselves to change and inspiration.
True inspiration often waits patiently for us to stop long enough to notice it.
It’s like the universe or God is saying, “I’ve been sending you cues all along; you just needed to slow down to see them.”
When we’re caught in the hustle and grind, it’s easy to overlook the synchronicities and messages life offers us.
Sometimes, we misinterpret their meaning or assume there’s only one way to act on them—believing, “This is what spirit told me, so this must be the only path.”
While that may be true, there’s often a better, more aligned way waiting to be discovered.
This is one of the reasons I love working within the Akashic Records and connecting with spirit.
These experiences reveal infinite perspectives on any situation, showing that there’s never just one way forward.
By embracing this openness, we can navigate life with greater clarity, creativity, and flow.
🧐 Multiple Perspectives and Creative Solutions
When we get tunnel vision—believing there’s only one way forward—we lose the magic that’s available to us.
Slowing down creates space to explore alternative paths, revealing new approaches that can better support our desires or help us manifest what we truly hope to create.
When I don’t hit a goal or manifest something I deeply want, I often take a step back to reflect.
I ask myself, What could I have done differently? What patterns am I repeating while expecting a different result?
After all, the definition of chaos is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting change.
It’s easy to fall back into familiar ways of doing things, but just because something feels familiar doesn’t mean it’s the best or only way forward.
This realization is something I’ve learned not only in personal reflection but also in raising my daughter with my husband.
We grew up in very different households, with different traditions and approaches to life.
But neither way is inherently better or worse—they’re just different.
By being open to each other’s perspectives, we’ve created new ways of parenting that honor both of our backgrounds while creating something uniquely ours.
In parenting, my husband and I have learned to blend our perspectives, incorporating the best of both worlds to raise our child.
The same principle applies to life.
Just because you’ve always done something one way doesn’t mean it’s the best way or will yield the best results.
Slowing down gives you the opportunity to explore other possibilities, unlocking your creativity and allowing ideas to flow in a beautiful, natural stream of consciousness.
But if you’re constantly jumping from one task to the next, barely surviving and hanging on, how can you expect your creative juices to flow?
How can you give yourself permission to truly receive?
The truth is, that receiving happens when you slow down.
So, here’s a big question for you: How much are you willing to slow down so that you can be inspired to speed up?
And does the idea of slowing down scare you?
Because I know for me—someone who has spent most of my life moving at a million miles an hour—slowing down can sometimes feel terrifying.
But every time I give myself that permission, I feel better in my body. I feel more grounded, more present, and more aligned with what truly matters.
💜 Feeling Supported by Slowing Down
The word I’m really looking for is “being held” and “supported.”
When I slow down, I actually feel the support around me, or I sense it in a way that I don’t when I’m rushing through the day.
Too often, when we’re caught up in the grind—the hustle and bustle—we can get swept away by negativity and frustration.
We become fixated on certain words and phrases that keep us stuck in that energy, and it’s easy to feel alone and unsupported.
The days drag on, one task after another, and you’re just barely hanging on.
Now, don’t get me wrong—you can still have big wins even in the hustle.
But imagine what it would feel like to slow down, to actually experience those wins, to tap into your creativity, and to simply be.
I’ll even give you an example: for the longest time, the thought of just sitting—of taking a bath, for instance—was so foreign to me.
I used to think, Who would want to just sit in a tub?
But when I finally allowed myself to slow down, I realized just how rejuvenating and grounding it could be.
💆♀️ Relaxation and Self-Care Importance
At one point, I thought taking time for myself was boring.
But now, I embrace it.
I will take that time to just be—to decompress and center myself.
Because if you don’t take the time to care for yourself, to truly slow down and unwind, the universe will find a way to get your attention.
And trust me, the way it gets your attention isn’t always the way you would choose.
The truth is, you get to choose how you slow down.
You get to decide when it’s time to relax, to take a step back.
Relaxing doesn’t mean being lazy—it means sinking into your body, grounding yourself, and being present in the moment.
You don’t have to do anything to be relaxed. You can simply be.
🥰 Being Present and Enjoying Simple Moments
Just the other day, I was playing with my daughter, working with colors.
She has this little lab set with primary colors—yellow, blue, and red—and we’d take a beaker and mix the colors to create new ones.
It was such a simple moment, but so grounding.
In that moment with my daughter, I realized how much fun it was—there was nothing more to do but just be present, play, and create colors.
And I was okay with the mess.
It was fun.
And that’s the thing: anything you choose to be present for, you can slow down and enjoy the moment.
You deserve that.
Your family, your friends, your colleagues, and your coworkers all deserve your presence.
And you deserve to be present with them too.
The blessings that come from slowing down are infinite.
Truly, they are.
So, here’s a question for you to sit with and observe over the next week: Am I moving too fast?
If so, in what areas?
How can I change that?
How can I give myself permission to slow down so that I can speed up in ways I never thought possible?
And how can I receive blessings from the universe, from God, from creation that I didn’t even know were possible?
Are you open to that?
Because I am definitely open to that for myself.
With love and blessings,

Hey, Amy Robeson here. Thank you for joining me on this podcast where we talk about spirituality, the awakening process, mental health, and so much more. Join me weekly to get your weekly dose of spirituality and medicine. I look forward to seeing you on the inside. Hello, everyone, and welcome to today’s episode. I’m so excited you We are here. We race, race, race, race, race There’s always something to look forward to. There’s always a goal to be reached. There’s always a desire to be had. And I think oftentimes, what is often overlooked is the precious, most magnificent, most powerful practice of slowing down. We’ve all heard the quote saying, Slow down to speed up, right? And this is, I I think one of the most important things to master in our technology era. Everything is speeding up so fast. Time is speeding up. There is constant pressure to compare. There’s constant pressure to perform, especially depending on what is the norm in the collective society. And with social media now, there are people that are constantly comparing their lives to these picture-perfect moments or these picture-perfect reels that are snapped in moments in time. And the bad thing is, it’s all smoke and mirrors.
We don’t know how long that person took to get there. We don’t know what they did before. We don’t know what they received or didn’t receive to make their accomplishments. And what is set up to perceive can be very false and just a prop, per se. And I often I often think that if we were to just strip away social media, and please note that I’m not saying let’s strip away social media, but let’s say we stripped away social media, what would your norm look like? What would you want to use to inspire you? Because we used to use magazines, then we used to do talk shows, and then we would do interviews. And now we have all these things that we can look at to inspire us to live a certain way, to show up in a certain way in our life. But is that what you really want? And I think that by slowing down, you get the opportunity to recognize what stressors are stressing you out that are not necessary to use as a driver to motivate you to succeed in life. I think that we can work smarter and not harder.
And I’m always grateful for when I get the chance to really observe from an outsider’s perspective on the things that are really stressing me out in life and how I can approach them in such a different way. But it’s only if I give myself permission to, one, be open to an alternative perspective, but two, to actually slow down to look at What is truly happening for me? What is truly happening to me? What am I choosing to truly happen as well? And what I mean by that is, is sometimes we are so caught up in the grind that we don’t realize the things that are truly happening in our life that are causing an influx in stress or that are causing us to behave or to act in a particular that doesn’t serve our highest good. And sometimes those stressors or those situations or those experiences are here to teach you how to say no, how to set up boundaries, how to walk away, how to lean in, depending on what exactly it is. And you don’t get that opportunity unless you truly slow down. For me, I’m so excited. I’m taking some time off during the holidays to really just spend time with my daughter and spend time with myself and spend time with my family and see what I want the new year to be or what chapter I want to be in as I’m closing out the end of this year.
But this is true for any time of year. It doesn’t matter if it’s the end of the year, the beginning of the year, the middle of the year, or three-fourths into the year. It does not matter. I think that it’s crucial and important to reevaluate and to take a look and to be present and to be open to change. I also notice that When I speed down, inspiration comes in. Like, true, true inspiration that’s like, Hey, I have been waiting for you to slow down so you could actually recognize these cues. The universe, God’s constantly sending us inspiration, constantly sending us cues. But when we’re in the hustle and bustle, when we’re in the daily grind, it’s often overlooked sometimes the meaning of what these synchronicities are, the meanings of the messages, because so often we can think, oh, this is the way that this message is meant, and this is the only way I’m supposed to do this because This is what spirit told me. And that might be true, and possibly there might be a better way. That’s one of the things that I love about working inside the Akashic records, working with spirit in general is because there are a multiple, an infinite number of perspectives on any given situation.
And if we get tunnel vision on this is the only way, you lose the magic that’s available to you. And so when you slow down, you can speed up because you’ll notice different ways of doing it that can support you in your desires or support you in that particular desire to manifest the particular thing that you’re wishing, hoping, and desiring to create. I know for me, when I don’t hit a goal or I don’t manifest the thing that I want, I often take a step back and ask myself, what could I have done differently? And what did I do the same expecting a different result? Because the definition of chaos is doing the same thing over and over and over again, expecting a different result. And oftentimes, we’ll jump into familiarity, we’ll jump into the way we’ve always done it. And just because you’ve always done it that way, it doesn’t mean it’s the correct way to do it or it’s the only way to do it. I know raising my daughter with my husband, we both grew up in very different households and have different traditions. And just because he grew up one way and I grew up a different way, it doesn’t mean one way is better than the other.
We can blend those ways to incorporate both of our perception in raising our child. And it’s the same thing in general in life. Sometimes the way that you’re doing things doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best way for you, or it’s going to yield the best results. But when you slow down and you can get creative because creative juices will flow and will have a really beautiful stream of consciousness if there’s space to create. If you’re just jumping from one task to another, just barely surviving, barely hanging on, how are you going to allow your creative juices to flow? How are you going to give yourself permission to receive? And we receive when we slow down. So I have a very big question for you. How much are you willing to slow down so that you can be inspired to speed up? And does slowing down scared the living bejesus out of you? Because I know for me, being someone that has gone a million miles an hour for most of my life, slowing down can sometimes feel scary. But I do know that the more that I slow down, the more I actually feel better in my body, the more I feel more grounded and present, the more I feel…
The word that I’m looking for is being held and supported. I feel held and supported when I slow down because I actually can feel the support around me, or I can sense the support around me. And so often when we’re in the grind and doing the hustle and bustle, you can get caught up in the negativity in life. You can get caught up in the daily grind. You’re caught up in certain words and phrases that keep you stuck in that particular energy, and you feel alone. You feel like you’re not supportive. You feel like, what am I doing? The days feel super, super, super long because you’re just going from the next task to the next task to the next task, and you’re barely hanging on. Now, with that also being said, you can have some big wins even when you are going through the hustle and bustle. But what would it feel like to slow down and experience the wins, experience the creativity, experience just sitting, sitting and breathing? I know for a long time ago, just the thought of just sitting, or I’ll even give this example, taking a bath. I’m like, who would want to sit in the tub.
That is so boring to me. And now it’s like, I’ll take that time. I will take that time to be with myself and to just be and decompress. Because if you do not do the self-care habits, and if you do not give yourself permission to decompress, what’s going to happen is the universe is going to get your attention where you are forced to slow down in ways that you are not going to like. And you get to choose the slow down and the way to slow down. If you start recognizing like, hey, it is time to slow down. It’s time for me to be relaxing. And relaxing does not mean lazy. Relaxing means you are relaxing into your body. You are relaxing into the moment. You are being present in the moment. And you don’t have to doing something in order to be relaxed. You can just relax. I know for me, I was playing with my daughter the other day, and we were working with colors, and she has this little lab thing where it has the primary colors, yellow and blue and red, and we can take a little beaker and change different colors.
And I’m like, this is just so much fun. There’s nothing more to do but just be present and play and make colors and be okay with the mess. And it’s fun. That’s the thing. It’s like anything that you want to be present for and you choose to be present for, you can slow down and just be in that moment and enjoy it because you deserve it. And your family and your friends and your colleagues and your coworkers deserve to have your presence. And you deserve to be present with them as well. And it’s such an amazing thing. And what blessings you receive from just slowing down are infinite. They truly, truly are infinite. So the question that I have for you to sit with and to just be an observer of over the next week is, am I moving too fast? If so, in what areas? And how do I want to change this? How can I give myself permission to slow down so that I can speed up in ways that I never thought were possible and receive blessings from the universe, from God, from creation that I didn’t even know were possible? Are you open to that?
