In this episode, I share the biggest takeaways from our Sacred Awakening Live Retreat, including the power of collective energy and the wisdom of Dandelion Dreams. I explore why we sometimes need to release old wishes that no longer align with who we are becoming. I...
When I look back at this video of myself dancing in the rain, my soul remembers something completely different from my ego does.
It remembers feeling free.
It remembers feeling magical.
It remembers feeling fully alive.
I remember the peace.
The clarity.
The deep sense of connection that washed over me.
But the first time I opened my camera roll to watch it back, my ego immediately grabbed the microphone and said, “Wow… you look so heavy.”
Isn’t it amazing how quickly the inner critic can rewrite reality through self criticism?
Nothing about that moment actually changed.
Only my judgment of it did.
The replay wasn’t the experience.
My criticism was.
🌧️ When Judgment Steals the Joy
We experience moments of love, joy, excitement, freedom, laughter, and deep connection.
But when we replay those moments through the lens of judgment, the inner critic can erase the beauty of what we actually experienced, reminding us why conquering your inner critical voice matters.
That replay might happen while rewatching a video, looking at a photo, remembering a conversation, or criticizing the outfit you wore.
Judgment becomes the thief of joy.
It steals the reality of what you genuinely felt in that moment.
I experienced this firsthand during a rainy afternoon.
As a child, whenever a summer rainstorm rolled in, my older sister and I would run outside, laugh, dance, and soak in every second of it.
Those memories have always felt magical to me.
Recently, after carrying some heavy emotions and sadness, I stepped outside into the rain.
Immediately, I felt peaceful.
I felt connected.
I felt clarity washing over me.
The rain became a moment of healing.
But the instant I looked back at the video I had recorded, self criticism quietly appeared.
Suddenly, instead of remembering how deeply connected I felt, I started critiquing myself.
That beautiful experience was replaced by self-evaluation.
And that’s exactly what the ego loves to do.
🧠 The Ego Evaluates, but the Soul Experiences
The ego naturally wants to assess everything.
It asks questions like:
Was I good enough?
How do I look?
What will people think?
Did I say the right thing?
Will people like this?
There’s nothing inherently wrong with the ego.
It has an important purpose.
Its job is to protect you.
The problem begins when that protection turns into self criticism, causing harm rather than safety.
Your soul operates very differently.
The soul isn’t busy evaluating.
The soul is busy experiencing.
One of the greatest gifts of being human is that we get to feel life fully.
My soul wasn’t thinking about how I looked standing in the rain.
It was feeling the cool drops on my skin.
It was receiving the freshness.
It was absorbing the power of nature.
As the rain became heavier, I became even more present.
Then something incredible happened.
I silently asked for a sign.
Almost immediately, thunder rolled across the sky.
My soul instantly knew.
“Yes.”
It felt supported.
It felt seen.
Meanwhile, my ego only wanted to participate afterward by analyzing the experience instead of living it, making conquering your inner critical voice even more important.
This is one of the reasons I love teaching the Akashic Records.
The Records continually invite us back into the living present moment.
They are not concerned with perfection.
They aren’t focused on your weight, your hairstyle, your wrinkles, or whether you made a funny face.
Your Guardians, Masters, Teachers, and Loved Ones want to help you fully live your life instead of allowing the ego to control it.
This isn’t about getting rid of the ego.
It’s about learning how the soul and the ego can work together and subtly control your ego.
The ego protects.
The soul evolves.
Both have a role.
But the ego should never overpower your soul’s growth or leave your life driven by self criticism.
✍🏻 Rewriting the Story You Tell Yourself
One area where I’ve had to consciously work with my ego has been my relationship with my body.
Over the past several years, I’ve permitted myself to weigh more.
For much of my life, I believed I needed to stay at a certain weight.
After having my daughter, I gained fifty pounds.
I had been underweight before pregnancy, and I made it my goal to fit back into my pre-pregnancy jeans by her first birthday.
I achieved that goal.
I felt proud of myself.
But I also realized something important.
That smaller body wasn’t actually healthy for me.
I had been carrying too little muscle, and my body constantly felt depleted.
Over the last few years, I’ve intentionally focused on building strength instead of chasing a number on the scale.
My body looks different now.
Sometimes my ego still notices that.
It compares today to ten years ago.
It whispers old stories rooted in self criticism.
When that happens, I gently remind it that muscle is not failure.
Health is more important than appearance.
Feeling strong matters more than fitting into an outdated image of myself.
That’s how I work with my ego.
I don’t shame it.
I coach it.
I remind it why we made these choices.
I help it return to reality instead of fear.
The Akashic Records healing beautifully supports this process.
The Records hold the frequency of your life.
They remember your joy.
They remember your presence.
They remember your love.
They also hold your moments of judgment—not to punish you, but to help you heal them.
The ego focuses on what it sees.
The soul focuses on what it feels.
The ego values appearances.
The soul values vibration, embodiment, and evolution, reminding us that conquering your inner critical voice creates more space for growth.
So let me ask you something.
What memory has your inner critic rewritten?
What experience have you remembered through judgment instead of feeling?
What if, instead, you remembered the laughter?
The dancing?
The freedom?
The connection?
Most people are far too focused on their own lives to analyze every little detail about yours.
And if someone does judge you that harshly, they probably aren’t someone whose opinion deserves your energy.
The most important relationship you’ll ever have is the one with yourself.
When you become kinder to yourself, you completely change how you experience life.
So I invite you to make a choice.
Choose your soul.
Choose to feel.
Or maybe choose both.
Claim that for yourself.
✨ Remember the Feeling, Not the Criticism
I’ve generally had a healthy self-image throughout my life.
My family encouraged me.
They complimented me.
They helped me build confidence.
And I believe it’s just as important that we learn to offer those same compliments to ourselves.
Still, aging brings a lot of outside noise.
Society constantly tells us what we’re supposed to look like.
That noise can easily distort reality.
I experienced this while reviewing the Zero Limits documentary.
I was so excited to watch it.
But the moment my scene appeared, my first thought was, Wow… I look old.
The funny part?
When I watched the same film at the premiere, I never had that thought.
Not once.
My ego had completely distorted my memory through self criticism.
It created a story that simply wasn’t true.
When I saw the film again, I actually laughed.
The version my inner critic had created didn’t match reality at all.
That’s why it’s so important to question your judgments, because conquering your inner critical voice starts with questioning the stories you tell yourself.
The ego often presents opinions as facts.
They aren’t facts.
They’re stories.
And if I had believed that story, I might have stopped showing up.
I might have hidden myself.
I might have allowed fear to make my decisions.
Instead, I chose to laugh.
I chose to remember what was real.
Our bodies are extraordinary.
They carry us through life.
They adapt.
They heal.
They grow.
Even if you’re facing health challenges, your body is incredibly powerful.
Can you permit yourself to step out of judgment?
Can you choose self-love instead?
Can you allow your soul to express itself without constantly filtering it through criticism?
Maybe your first step is simply permitting yourself to feel.
And when judgment inevitably appears, gently remind your ego:
“That’s not true.”
“That may be your fear, but it isn’t reality.”
Then lovingly guide yourself back to what feels true.
I believe awakening isn’t about becoming someone entirely new.
It’s about refusing to let the inner critic define your reality.
Because when you stop allowing judgment to lead your life, your authentic self naturally begins to shine.
And that is one of the most freeing experiences you can have.
With love and blessings,

Full transcription of the episode:
When I look at this video of myself moving in the rain, my soul remembers feeling completely free, magical, and alive. Clarity was setting in. But when I first opened my camera roll to watch it back, my ego instantly took the mic and said, “Wow, you look so heavy.” Isn’t it wild how fast the inner critic can hijack reality? Nothing about this moment changed, only my judgment of it. The replay isn’t the experience.
We often experience love, joy, excitement, freedom, laughter, connection. And when we replay it through the lens of judgment, that’s when the inner critic just kiboshes the experience. And that replay can be through the conversation, through a video, through looking at the picture, thinking about the outfit you wore, and it’s the thief of joy. It steals the experience of the reality in which you were actually in before from you. And I’ll give you an example of what I mean by this.
When I was just outside, like I loved that it was raining. When I was a kid, anytime we had like a summer shower during the day, my older sister and I, we would run out there, ’cause we were often home alone by ourselves, we would run out there and just laugh and dance and enjoy it. And when it was raining, when I took this video, I went outside. And I have been experiencing some like heavy emotions, some sadness, and it just felt so good to be outside in the rain. I felt so peaceful.
I felt so connected. I felt like clarity was coming in. And when I looked at my camera, that judgment just crept right in there and stole the reality of the feeling that I had for me in the moment. And that is because the ego wants to evaluate. The ego wants to critique, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
However, when it causes self-harm, that is a problem. And the ego will often go, was I good enough? How do I look? What will people think? Was I sharing what I wanted to share?
What will happen next? Will people like this? Did people like this? And the soul doesn’t do that. The soul has a completely different experience than the ego.
The ego has a different job than the soul, and that’s okay. The soul is asking different questions than the ego. And oftentimes the soul isn’t asking questions, it’s experiencing the feelings, because one of the beautiful things that we get to do in this human experience is to feel, and that’s an incredible experience in itself. We’re embodied in this human flesh and we get the opportunity to feel. And what my soul was doing in that moment was feeling the rain, feeling the freshness of the rain, feeling the power of the rain, because it started drizzling and then it got heavier and heavier and heavier, and it was so absolutely wonderful.
And at one point the thunder came when I was asking a question, when I was just like, give me a sign, And then the thunder came and my soul was like, yes! But my ego, on the other hand, when we look back, was having a completely different experience. Now, my ego wasn’t participating in the rain at that moment in time. The ego wanted to participate afterwards. And this is why I love teaching the Akashic Records, because one of the things that I teach my students is to befriend the ego, because the ego is often stuck in the past.
And the Akashic Records invite you to live in the present moment. The records aren’t worrying about if it was perfect. The Akashic Records are not also worrying about your weight, if your hair was frizzy, did you make a silly face? Your Guardians, your Masters, your Teachers, your Loved Ones want to support you in living this experience to its fullest and not letting the ego run the show. And we’re not talking about banishing the ego.
It’s about understanding how the soul and the ego can have different experiences and how they can coincide in this experience while you are evolving, because the ego has a very important job and the ego is here to protect you, but not when it’s a detriment to your soul’s evolution. For me, this experience was I am learning how to be in my body in a different way. And over the last, um, 4 years, 3-ish years, I have given myself permission to weigh more. I have always been a certain weight, and when I had my daughter, I gained £50. I was underweight when I got pregnant with her, and my goal by the time she was 1 was to lose all of my baby weight.
And on her 1-year-old birthday, at her party, I had my pants that I wanted to wear that were my pre-pregnancy pants, and I wore them. And what I realized was one, I was super proud of myself for losing the weight in a healthy way. And two, that that weight was not appropriate for me, that I’ve been underweight for quite some time. And the reason why my body felt so awful is because I didn’t have enough muscle on my body. And so over the last 2 and a half years, I have really focused on gaining muscle.
And so I am not used to my body looking the way it looks in this present time. And I have to remind my ego that muscle mass is not overweight and that it’s okay if we look different than what we looked like 10 years ago, 8 years ago, because healthy and feeling better in my body is better than feeling like my body is going to give out on me. And it takes some time to recognize those behaviors, especially with the ego, when there is body image things that the ego is working on. And what I do with my soul and my ego is I Dying My Ego, where we were at and why we made certain decisions so that we feel better and we have a better life and that we can get out of judgment as well. And I really want to also just emphasize this, that the Akashic Records logs the frequency.
It’s a frequency data map that it logs. It’s logging joy and it’s logging presence and it’s logging connection. It also logs the judgment. As well so that it can support you in overcoming the judgment, overcoming the self-criticism. It’s important to remember the ego loves the visual.
It cares about the visual, where the soul cares about the vibration, cares about the embodiment, cares about the evolution. So here’s a couple things I want you to reflect on. What memory have you rewritten because of self-criticism? What if you could remember how blank felt? So whatever experience that was, a trip, a friend, a conference, a talk.
What if you could remember what that experience felt like instead of what you judged? What if you could remember laughing, dancing, having fun instead of worrying about who was watching or what other people were thinking? These reflections allow you to kind of start rewriting the reality. I have someone close to me that will often not do things because they are worried about what people will think about their legs or their veins or their skin. Nobody cares.
No one cares. Because the reality of the situation is you are the main character in your life and they are the main character in their life. They’re not going to nitpick those little things on you. And if they do, they’re not a good friend. And tell them what you think.
Because what’s really important is that you’re kind to yourself, because when you do, it allows you to have a different experience. Hey, real quick, are you going to choose your soul and remember the feeling versus the critic? And if you are, I want you to comment below and say, I choose my soul. I choose to feel. Whichever one feels better to you.
I choose my soul, or I choose to feel, or both. Proclaim it. Claim it as your own, my friend. Let’s jump back in. I’m going to give you one more story.
Just so you know, like, I’ve had a good self-image since I was a kid. I also think that the people around me helped me with this because my mom would reinforce it, my stepdad, my other family members. And, you know, I think that’s really helpful when you have people in your life tell you, oh, you’re so cute, or, oh, you’re so funny, or whatever it is that they’re saying. They’re paying you compliments. And I think it’s important that we pay our own self-compliments as well.
And with that being said, I also think that as we age, there is so much noise about aging and about looks that distort what is healthy. And I was in the Zero Limits movie, and if you haven’t watched it, please watch it. It streams on Prime and on Apple, and it’s all about living your life at zero limits.. And when they sent me the film back to review, I was so excited to review it. And when it got to my part, the very first thought— oh my God, guys, I’m so embarrassed to even say this.
I’m not embarrassed because I’m gonna say it anyways— was, man, I look old. Like, I am definitely aging, and it’s just a reality. Like, I am getting old, and that’s okay. Like, age comes with wisdom. And I just remember, man, I look so old.
And And this is the funny part: when I watched it at the movie premiere in Sacramento, that wasn’t even my thought. I didn’t even have the same reaction. And the way my critic, my ego, said that was such a freaking lie because it wasn’t even remotely true. I made this like distorted image of how my face looked, and then when I looked at it again at the movie premiere, it’s not at all what I remembered my ego telling me it looked like. And so it’s important to always question the judgments, because oftentimes, sometimes there’s this distortion that comes in that is not true whatsoever.
And I laughed about it because it was so messed up on how my ego painted this picture that was not even remotely true. And I giggled and I laughed about it because if I would have allowed that to like creep in, can you imagine how I wouldn’t show up for myself or how that would like prevent me from doing the things that I want to do or cause me to do other actions that could cause more harm to me as well. Age is an interesting thing. Our bodies are an interesting thing and they are so powerful. They run.
Even if you have health problems, your body is so powerful. Like, you are so, so powerful. So can you give yourself permission to get out of that judgment and get into a place of self-love, into a place of allowing your soul to express itself, and give yourself permission to remember the feeling. Give yourself permission to feel the feeling. That might be your first step, because some people do have a harder time feeling.
But give yourself permission to feel the feeling and then remember that feeling instead of moving into judgment. And if judgment comes up, my response usually to the ego is, that’s not true. That’s maybe what you think, but that’s not true. And I will often coach my ego back into a reality that feels good to me instead of staying in that judgment. And I want to invite you to do that as well.
I think awakening often looks less like becoming someone new, and it’s more like refusing to allow the inner critic to take over your reality, because this is where your authentic expression can live and you awaken into who you truly are, and it’s an amazingly freeing thing.
