If you have ever wondered what is a spiritual awakening, and you only watch one video about spiritual awakening, I hope it’s this one.
Not because I have all the answers.
But because I want you to feel truly seen, especially in the parts of the journey that no one prepares you for.
🙃 Awakening Doesn’t Always Feel Beautiful
We often imagine a spiritual awakening as blissful, joyful, and peaceful.
In reality, the signs of spiritual awakening can feel messy, heavy, and deeply unsettling.
It can feel as though the ground beneath your feet is shifting.
Everything that once felt familiar suddenly feels unfamiliar.
At its core, an awakening is an identity shift and a spiritual transformation process.
The masks you’ve worn to feel safe or accepted begin to fall away because they no longer fit the person you’re becoming.
As those old identities dissolve, it’s easy to wonder, “What’s wrong with me?” or “Why does this feel so hard?”
Beautiful soul, you are not doing anything wrong.
What feels like your life is falling apart is actually your true self beginning to emerge.
Once you recognize what’s happening, you can’t unsee it.
In this episode, we’ll explore what is a spiritual awakening, why you may already be experiencing one without realizing it, the biggest myths that keep people stuck, and one powerful shift that can completely change how you move through the process.
As always, this episode is for reflection and exploration.
It is not intended to replace medical, mental health, or financial advice.
Now, let’s dive in.
If you’ve been asking yourself, “What is a spiritual awakening?” It begins when you realize the life you’re living no longer aligns with who you truly are.
Your values begin to change.
Your desires shift.
The dreams, relationships, careers, and routines that once felt right may suddenly feel restrictive.
You might even feel uncomfortable in your own skin, which many people describe as spiritual awakening anxiety.
Maybe you once wanted the life you’re living.
Maybe you’ve never wanted it.
Either way, something no longer fits.
The foundation beneath you starts to crack because it was built on an old version of yourself.
You may notice conversations that once energized you now leave you feeling disconnected.
Beliefs you once held tightly no longer resonate, and these are common signs of spiritual awakening.
The things that used to bring you joy simply don’t anymore.
It’s like wearing your favorite pair of jeans that suddenly no longer fit.
Not because you’ve changed physically.
Because you’ve changed internally.
That discomfort isn’t a sign that something is wrong with you.
It’s a sign you’ve outgrown an old identity, and that’s a big part of what is a spiritual awakening.
Once you see that truth, you can’t ignore it.
Your intuition begins inviting you toward something new.
The more you listen, the easier it becomes to move through the awakening.
🧚🏻♀️ The Biggest Myths About Spiritual Awakening
One of the biggest misconceptions is believing you’ll instantly know you’re having an awakening.
Most people don’t recognize signs of spiritual awakening.
I certainly didn’t.
When I experienced my first awakening, I was struggling with deep depression.
Every day I went to work feeling completely disconnected from my life.
One day, a manager looked at me and said, “You say you don’t want to be here every single day.”
She was right.
In that moment, I finally admitted the environment wasn’t working for me anymore.
I made the decision to transfer back to a different dealership where I knew I would feel more supported.
At the time, I had no idea I was experiencing an awakening.
I was simply following the next step that felt right.
That step began with something incredibly simple.
I felt drawn to try hot yoga.
I couldn’t explain why.
I just knew I needed to go.
The very first class felt like life was returning to my body.
For the first time in a long time, I felt hope.
That one decision created momentum.
Because I listened to one small piece of guidance, I was able to recognize the bigger changes my life needed.
Awakenings rarely arrive with dramatic Hollywood moments.
More often, they happen through quiet shifts.
Small nudges.
Tiny decisions.
Gentle whispers from your intuition.
Another myth is believing your life has to completely fall apart for an awakening to count.
It doesn’t.
You’re not being graded.
You’ll experience many awakenings throughout your lifetime.
Each one will look different.
Some involve dramatic change.
Others unfold through conscious choices you willingly make.
My second awakening came when I chose to move to Charleston, South Carolina, to be with my now-husband.
I willingly left my hometown, my friends, my career, and everything familiar.
Shortly after moving, I cracked my tailbone again.
Yoga—my greatest support system—was suddenly gone.
Without it, I found myself slipping into another depression.
This time, I recognized the signs.
I knew I was grieving.
Not just my old life.
My old identity.
Even when you choose change, you still mourn what you’ve left behind.
Grief is a natural part of awakening.
🧘🏻♀️ Following the Breadcrumbs Back to Yourself
One truth I’ve discovered about what is a spiritual awakening through every awakening is this:
Spirit always leaves breadcrumbs leading you toward who you’re becoming.
The question is whether you’ll follow them.
Whenever you’re moving through an awakening, ask yourself:
What am I being guided to create?
It doesn’t have to be something big.
Creating can look like taking a yoga class.
Going for a walk.
Starting a meditation practice.
Writing in a journal.
Learning a new skill.
Each small step creates movement.
During my second awakening, I kept feeling called toward meditation.
Before moving, I had already been lingering after yoga classes just to sit in silence.
When I finally listened to that inner calling, I found my first meditation teacher.
Ironically, I originally booked a session for a reading.
She also happened to teach meditation.
When the student is ready, the teacher truly does appear.
Awakenings compress your energy because the old identity no longer fits.
Creating something new helps expand that energy again.
That’s why following your curiosity matters.
It’s often your soul pointing you toward your next chapter.
🌟 Moving Through Your Awakening With Grace
If you’re in the middle of an awakening and still wondering what is a spiritual awakening, remind yourself of one simple truth:
You are safe.
The only way through an awakening is through it.
Take a deep breath.
Ground yourself.
Repeat:
“I am safe.”
“I am safe.”
“I am safe.”
Breathing helps calm your nervous system and reminds your body that change is not danger.
Movement also helps release stagnant energy.
Walk.
Stretch.
Practice yoga.
Dance.
Hike.
Whatever helps your body move.
Meditation quiets the mental noise and allows you to hear your intuitive guide more clearly.
Then, pay attention to what Spirit is asking you to do.
You don’t have to leap.
You only have to take the next small step.
Research the class.
Make the phone call.
Book the appointment.
Trust the process.
You may also discover that the tools supporting you today aren’t the tools you’ll need tomorrow.
As I’ve continued evolving, I’ve been guided toward meditation, Reiki, the Akashic Records, and many other practices.
Each one arrived exactly when I needed it.
Your awakening is not happening to you.
It’s happening for you, and many of the signs of spiritual awakening you’re experiencing are guiding you toward your authentic self.
The difficult moments are helping you release the identity you’ve outgrown so your authentic self can fully emerge.
The dark night of the soul isn’t just one difficult night.
It’s often many.
Yet every challenge serves a purpose.
You cannot carry old masks into your new life.
You’re becoming someone who vibrates differently.
Someone more authentic.
More aligned.
More powerful.
If there’s one thing I hope you remember, it’s this:
You are capable of moving through your awakening.
You are stronger than you realize.
You are powerful.
You are magnificent.
And you can move through this season with grace.
I’d love to hear about your journey.
Are you in the middle of an awakening?
Have you recently come through one?
Or are you experiencing another layer of growth?
I’m so grateful this message found you.
I hope this isn’t the last time our paths cross.
With love and blessings,

Full transcription of the episode:
If you ever watch one video on spiritual awakening, I want it to be this one. No, not because I have all the answers. It’s because I want you to feel seen, most importantly, in the parts that no one prepares you for. Instead of feeling blissful and joyful and happy, it feels messy, heavy, and it feels like the ground beneath you is shaking. It feels unstable.
It almost feels unrecognizable. And because the ground starts to move, the parts of your life that you chose that felt familiar become unfamiliar. Because underneath it all, it’s an identity crisis. The masks that you used to wear start to fall away because they don’t fit you anymore. They fit an old version of you that wasn’t really you.
The old you, the masks you used to wear, start to fall away so the real you can come forward. And in the middle of that, there’s a quiet voice that says, “What’s wrong with me? Why am I doing this wrong? Why does this feel so hard?” Beautiful soul, you are not doing it wrong. What feels like it is falling apart is a shift in identity where you are awakening to your true self.
And yes, it feels hard, but once you see it, you can’t unsee it. So today I want to give you a map. We’re going to go over what an awakening is, why you might be in one right now and not even recognize it, what you’ve been told that keeps you stuck, and one shift that changes how the whole thing feels. And one quick note before we get started, this is reflection and exploration for you. This is not to replace medical, health, or financial advice.
And before we completely hop in, please make sure you like and subscribe so we can hang out some more. Now let’s jump in. So what is an actual awakening? An awakening is when you realize the reality in which you are living in is not the reality in which your truest form of self is meant to be in. So to put it simply, you are going through an identity crisis.
Your values, your wants, your needs, your desires start to shift, and the old version of you that wore the masks that kept you safe in your old environment can no longer keep you safe in this new environment. You almost feel super uncomfortable in your own skin, super uncomfortable in your own life, and you might be going like, but I wanted this life, or maybe you might be going, I don’t want this life and I’m still uncomfortable. It can be either or. The main thing is the ground in which you walk on starts to crumble because it was never a solid foundation to begin with. It was based on an old identity where you were wearing a mask.
And how it feels is it can feel just really uncomfortable. You might have had like really close connection with friends or family members, and those conversations don’t do it for you anymore. The values in which you once held very near and dear to your heart are no longer your values, and you start to question, I once believed this, I once had these old patterns, I once had this that was okay. And then what happens is you start going, that doesn’t feel good. You don’t even have the words.
It just doesn’t feel right in your body, or something feels disconnected or disjointed. What gave you joy before does not give you joy any more. It almost feels like you have on an extremely tight pair of jeans that were always your favorite jeans, but you didn’t gain weight, they just don’t fit. I want to preference, this has nothing to do with weight, just so you know. It’s just like sometimes we’re not okay within our own skin, and that is okay because it’s a mask that you once put on that kept you safe, but it can no longer keep you safe.
And here’s the thing, once you recognize, hey, this environment, these desires, these people, this work, these friendships, this career, whatever it may be, once gave you joy or once was okay, it gave you just enough to just keep going. Once you unsee it, you can’t unsee it. And it’s important that you actually listen to your intuition and take action so that you feel better while you’re moving through the awakening itself. For me, when I had my very first awakening, I was in such a bad, deep depressive state. I didn’t want to be here.
My life felt so difficult and so hard. I remember going to work one day and I was like, I don’t want to be here. And one of the managers was like, you know, you say that every day. You know, you say that Every single day, Amy. And I looked at her and I got up and I said, you are absolutely right.
Because that space that I was in, I didn’t like it. I didn’t like the people in the dealership I worked at. I didn’t want to work with them. And I used to work at a different dealership with the same company. And so I immediately got on a phone call and said, hey, can I go back to my old store?
I don’t wanna be here anymore. Like, this is not working for me. And he said, absolutely. That might not be available to most of you, but there’s an opportunity always when you’re having an awakening to shift environments, but you gotta get clear that it’s not working for you. And the second I said, you’re right, someone called me out on it.
I made a decision to shift and to move out of it. And it was because I started doing some other work. And I’ll get back to that in just a moment. I wanna go over the first myth, because you might be going, well, Amy, that was good because you understood that you were in awakening. And here’s the thing, an awakening is already hard.
It is messy. And most of the time you don’t even realize you’re in an awakening. And I did not realize I was in an awakening. What I was doing is I was trusting when I was guided to do something. And I didn’t even have those words back then.
And here’s the thing, you don’t have to know you’re in an awakening. If you’re watching this video, You probably feel like you’re either in an awakening or you just got out of an awakening. You’re curious for more information. This myth keeps people stuck. They’re waiting for this big Hollywood ties moment of awakening or an Instagram moment of awakening.
And it doesn’t happen like that. There’s these really gradual shifts. And yes, you can almost feel like you are dying when you’re in an awakening. And for me, how I was able to make the decision to leave that dealer and go back to the dealer that I was in was because I followed the first intuitive guidance that I received. I had this desire to do hot yoga, and I kept having this desire.
I really wanted this desire. I finally went. I found a studio that was 2 minutes from my house. It was a brand new Bikram studio. Now called Hot 26.
And I went, and the first time I went, I instantly felt like life was coming back into my body, into my soul, into my mind. My serotonin, my dopamine, all of the happy juices that you need to live life and feel like life is worth living were gone. They were so depleted. And when I went to this class for the first time, I could like feel myself coming back into myself. And I started doing Bikram yoga, and because I did that one step when I recognized that the environment wasn’t conducive for my mental well-being and where I wanted to go and what I was doing next, I could actually see that there was a different opportunity available to me.
I didn’t have to sit in my misery because that environment did not work for me and me more. So even if you don’t feel like you’re in an awakening right now, trust that you either went through one or you’re in one, but they’re gradual shifts and they don’t have to be dramatic at all. Which brings me to myth number 2, that you have to lose everything in order for the awakening to count. First off, we’re not keeping score. You are going to go through so many awakenings in your lifetime, but your awakening doesn’t have to look like a Hollywood movie.
You know, like when a couple breaks up and the girl goes to the airport and And the guy recognizes he can’t live without her and he runs to the airport just before she gets on the airplane and they kiss and embrace because she was gonna make the biggest move of her life and he couldn’t leave her. It is not gonna happen like that. First off, you gotta have a ticket to go past TSA to even make it to the gate to chase your lover down the road. When you go through an awakening, you are going to make choices. You have free will.
You have the ability to choose what your awakening looks like and And no, that doesn’t make it even easier. Awakenings are hard, and because they’re hard, you are losing a part of your identity. You can make conscious decisions that make you feel like your life is falling apart, and you can be grieving those conscious decisions. My second awakening happened when I moved to Charleston, South Carolina to be with my now husband. I made a conscious decision to leave my hometown, to leave my friends, to leave my career.
I did choose to also go back to to school and finish my degree before I moved to Charleston. And so my plan before we started dating was to go into medical sales. That’s what I wanted to do. I had tons of friends in the industry. I could get a job.
And life took a different turn. I chose to move. When I moved to Charleston, I cracked my tailbone for the second time. Yoga got taken away from me and I started spiraling down a spiral. I could feel myself moving into a depression that was similar to my first awakening, and I knew I didn’t want to get to the point where I didn’t feel like I could crawl myself out of the black hole.
And when I say crawl, I mean claw myself out of the black hole. If you’ve ever been that depressed, you know what I’m talking about. It just feels like it is impossible to not feel that you have the ability to feel good again. With that, when I went through this awakening, it was a choice that I made. I chose to move to Charleston.
I knew that it was going to take me some time to find a different career and that those career options were not available to me. And when I couldn’t find the thing that I wanted, it made me sad. It made me depressed. I also was mourning my identity because I was extremely busy. I had lots of social life.
I had lots of friends. I went and I had my entire identity wrapped up in my career and in my friendships. And when that was taken away from me by choice, I made this decision. I just didn’t know who I was. I didn’t know who I was becoming.
And this is the part that I want to share with you that I think is really important, that will help you move through those tough identity crisis times. Through the grief, because you go through grief, you mourn your old life, you mourn your old identity. Even if you don’t even recognize that you’re grieving, you’re definitely grieving. Grief is a part of the awakening process. And the one thing that I will tell you, in every awakening, Spirit, God, Universe will always give you breadcrumbs to where you can find who you are becoming.
They will always give you breadcrumbs to where you can find who you are becoming. And the first one, it was hot yoga. The second one, I sat down, and this is a question I want you to ask yourself anytime you’re going through an awakening. What am I being guided to do? What am I being guided to create that I haven’t done?
That I haven’t either fully invested or I haven’t done at all. Because sometimes you might be like dipping your toe in, but you haven’t fully invested in creating that thing. And creating can be all sorts of different things. Creating a shape on the yoga mat was perfect for me. It wasn’t like I was doing an arts and crafts project.
In my second awakening, I was already getting downloads before I moved to Charleston that I wanted to learn meditation. I wanted to learn and practice meditation. I was already practicing it in yoga class, I would stay for at least 10 minutes after class and just meditate on my mat. And I could feel myself slipping into a deep meditation and I craved it. And when I moved to Charleston, cracked my tailbone, started walking with a limp, was severely depressed, in lots of pain, I had to be honest with myself and go, what am I trying to learn?
What am I trying to do? What I ended up finding was my first meditation teacher, my first spiritual teacher. I got a reading from her and she just so happened, she just so happened to be a meditation teacher. Isn’t that fun? When the student is ready, the teacher will always show up.
You might be being guided towards learning something. You might be being guided towards just going for a daily walk. That is creating something. You’re creating momentum with your energy. There is There’s always something that comes forward when you are having an awakening to create something.
Because when we are depressed, meaning we’re being compressed, our energy is being compressed. You don’t have to feel depressed, but our energy is being compressed because we don’t fit in that identity anymore. To break free from it, we go and create. And this is a powerful thing that you can do. And before I go even further into what you can do to move through your awakening, I want to invite you into our free community.
I have a free Facebook group. I have lots and lots of Akashic Records students that offer free readings when they’re going through their certificate. It’s also a great place to hang out with like-minded people. So if If you’d like to join, you can click the link in the description or show notes and join our free community. We have lots and lots of members in there, and I would love for you to join us.
I believe we have over like 30,000 members in there now. Love to see you in there. Let’s jump back into how to move through this. First off, I want to just say it’s really important whenever you’re in awakening, even when you’re not in awakening, to remind yourself you’re safe because you can get through this and the only way through is through. So you can get through this and remember Remember, once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
You gotta go through it. I have lots of tools in my toolbox that have helped me through lots of my awakenings. One of them would be breathing exercises. I think that when you’re in an awakening, it’s important to turn off your fight or flight system in your body. And so just taking a moment and grounding is crucial.
And we can do that right here. So I want you to close your eyes, take a nice deep breath in through your nose. Cleansing breath out through your mouth.
Another nice deep breath in through your nose.
And on the exhale, feel your feet rooting, feel your grounding cord rooting into the earth and just simply say, I am safe. I am safe. I am safe. You’re going to take 3 more deep inhales and exhales, reminding yourself you are safe. I am safe.
I am safe. I am safe.
Whenever you’re ready, you can open your eyes. You don’t have to have your eyes closed in order to breathe. You can do this anytime. Breathing into your body, reminding yourself you’re safe is really important. Moving your body, any form of movement, yoga, static dance, walking, anything, hiking, move your body so you can get the stuck energy out of your body.
Meditation is also an amazing way to clear the static and the noise from your field. Notice what spirit is guiding you towards, and that’s so important. Notice what spirit is guiding you towards and then go and do it. And you might not be able to fully jump into it. Maybe you just take one step towards that thing and then another step towards that thing and another step.
So for me, it was like researching hot yoga. Then once I researched, I realized there was a new studio. Then I booked an appointment to go. There are are little baby steps that you can take along the way to do the very thing that you’re meant to be doing. Trust your heart.
Trust your God, Spirit, Universe. Trust, because you can no longer live in the space you once lived in. The only way through is through. So trust. And one more thing, you might already have tools in your toolbox, and those tools may be working for you, or they may not be.
Sometimes Sometimes the tools need to be upgraded. Once I moved through my first two awakenings, I was guided towards more tools from Reiki to becoming a meditation teacher. I became a meditation teacher before Reiki and then the Akashic Records and so much more. Like there’s always things that are going to call you that work as tools to support you in your becoming. And one thing I really want you to understand is your awakening is not happening to you.
It’s happening for you. And it’s really important that you understand that because it allows you to become who you are and drop the identity that no longer fits your reality. Because here’s the thing, the dark night of the soul, which is not a night, it’s many, many, many, many nights, the heavy parts, the hard parts, they all help you to become who you truly are. And it is liberating when you get through to the other end, because remember, you cannot carry those old parts, those old masks, that old identity into the new future, into your new reality, because you vibrate at a different frequency in that reality, and you are a different person. And that is magnificent, because you are powerful and You are unstoppable, and because you’re unstoppable, you have the opportunity to meet your most authentic version of yourself.
So remember this, if you take away one thing from this video, you are capable of moving through your awakening, and you are powerful, and you are magnificent. Please tell me in the comments, are you in the middle of an awakening? Have you just gone through an awakening? Are you on your second, third awakening? Let me know in the comments.
I read every comment and it would mean the world to me if you can comment. Also, if you like this video, please make sure you like and subscribe because I’m really happy this video found you and I really don’t want this to be the last time this channel finds you. And don’t stop here. I made another video that picks up where this video left off and I want you to watch the next one. I’ll see you over there, beautiful soul.
Take care. Bye.
