Have you ever been afraid?
Afraid to make a mistake, afraid to disappoint, afraid to show up, afraid of being seen?
Afraid, afraid, afraid.
Another word for that would be fearful.
I think we all have our own fears. Some of them are irrational.
Some people can’t wrap their heads around it, thinking, Hey, why are you scared of that?
And I’ll give you an example.
I’ll share one of my fears.
I have a fear of escalators.
I worry that my shoelaces, or someone else’s shoelaces, are going to get stuck in the claw and lead to something nasty.
The thought of them getting stuck or the escalator collapsing—it’s terrifying.
I’ve seen videos of gigantic escalators collapsing, with people piling on top of one another.
So, in my mind, this is a very rational fear.
😨 Sharing Personal Fear of Escalators
Have I ever experienced an escalator doing this thing? No.
Does my husband think it’s an absolutely crazy fear? Absolutely.
And he likes to make fun of me about it.
We joke about it, and I’m okay with that because I realize it’s not a common fear for some people.
But we all have fears.
And the key to having a fear, no matter what it is, is understanding that it’s necessary to work through certain fears.
For me, getting on an escalator is part of working through it.
I might have to hold on to the railing and do some deep breathing, especially when there are lots of people.
But I’m not going to let it stop me from trying to work through it.
That being said, there are some fears that can cripple people.
They can make someone freeze, run, or fawn—whatever the case may be.
Working through these fears often requires baby steps.
It takes time to unpack them.
Sometimes, it even means working with someone to sort through them.
For me, I have a very big fear of drowning, and I’ve done past life regressions to help work through this fear.
✨ Understanding Crippling Fears
Through past life regressions, I’ve discovered that I’ve drowned multiple times in previous lifetimes, and that’s where this fear comes from.
I also almost drowned as a kid.
So we can have fears that are crippling, and we can have fears that prevent us from taking action, even when we want to.
It’s a silent kind of crippling.
I often find this with people who are afraid to be seen, afraid to speak up, or afraid to pursue certain goals, dreams, and desires because of these silent fears.
I want to encourage you to review some of the goals or desires you had for this year—goals you planned to start or accomplish, but haven’t.
Maybe these are goals you’ve held onto for many years without achieving.
I want you to sit down and ask yourself: Why am I fearful of accomplishing this goal?
What is my silent fear?
What are my silent fears?
By asking these questions, you’ll get the opportunity to start unpacking some fears.
You can unpack them on your own, or get support and help, however you choose.
✍️ Identifying Silent Fears and Goals
But it’s really important to actually look at the fears.
Without looking at the fear, you’re going to continue to get the same result—the same outcome you’ve always had toward that goal or desire.
Oftentimes, we have to take action.
When we take a moment to look at the fears and are really honest with ourselves, like, Hey, these are my fears.
This is what I have going on.
This is where I’m at with this, then you can start being brutally honest with yourself about the next action steps toward your goal.
That might mean just sitting with the fear for a couple of weeks.
It might mean getting help to work through it.
Or it might mean realizing there’s more to do than just try to accomplish the goal.
For instance, let’s say you want to be successful in your business, but you have a fear of being seen.
You may be avoiding marketing strategies because if you’re seen, you worry it won’t go well—people might make fun of you, they may not like you, or there may be other concerns about being seen.
But you’ve got to unpack it, my friend, because you’ll never achieve the success you want if you don’t.
🙈 The Fear of Being Seen
People don’t even have to be business owners or want to start a business to have a fear of being seen.
Plenty of people have this fear, and it causes them to stay unseen in relationships, including platonic ones.
They’re often overlooked for promotions or in their career, or they’re overlooked in friendship circles or groups they’re part of.
Whatever the fear is, it’s crucial, crucial, crucial to be honest with yourself.
For me, with swimming, that fear still holds areas I need to unpack.
As my daughter gets older, I’m realizing that some of these old fears I thought I’d completely worked through are still there.
So, what am I going to do to unpack it?
I’m going to take some swimming lessons.
And I know that sounds silly because I actually know how to swim.
🏊♀️ Personal Experience with Swimming Fear
But I had this frightening incident in a swimming pool with my daughter.
I’m very short, and I didn’t realize there was a ledge.
I was holding her without floaties or anything, and it caught me off guard.
I was too short to touch the bottom, and I didn’t know how to tread water with a 28-pound child.
It scared me to death because I had to stay calm.
I had to push her to the side to reach the edge of the pool while also keeping myself from going under, all while holding my child.
So know that sometimes fears will sneak up on you to address them, whether you like it or not.
So why not unpack them?
When you address the fear head-on, you take back your power.
But when you avoid it, pretend it’s not there, or refuse to look at it, that fear will surface at some point in your life—whether you’re ready for it or not.
So have the courage to unpack it, to face it, because incredible things happen when you do.
Everything doesn’t change overnight; it’s a gradual journey toward enlightenment, embodying your true self, and reaching self-actualization through self-realization.
And it’s a powerful thing.
Fears can cripple us and stunt our growth, but working through them opens the path to so much more.
💪 Empowering Yourself by Facing Fears
And when you take the time to address it, you empower yourself directly.
I’m being guided to share this analogy because I’m intuitively getting that it’s a good one.
When a woman is pregnant, she will have to give birth at some point.
How that birth unfolds is ultimately up to God, the universe—because that baby will enter the world in its own way.
You can make a birth plan, and prepare all you want, but no matter what, that baby is going to come in the way it sees fit and in the way the body sees fit as well.
That might be through a vaginal birth, an emergency C-section, a scheduled C-section, or one of many other possibilities.
But it’s going to happen, whether you’re ready or not, or fearful or not.
That birth is coming, regardless of any fear.
And life is like that too.
We give birth to many things and experience many deaths along the way.
Sometimes, we have zero control over what the journey looks like, but we know it’s going to happen.
So in a sense, this is a way to gain a little more control over the fear—because it’s going to work itself out, no matter what.
You might as well have a little say in it, right?
With love and blessings,

And that might be through many different possibilities of how they go about getting that baby out of that woman. But it is going to happen if you like it or not eat it. It doesn’t matter how fearful the person is of having the baby. It’s coming out regardless of what that person is fearing or not fearing.
And so life is like that, too. We give birth to many things. We have many deaths as well. And sometimes we have zero control over what the journey looks like, but we know it’s going to happen. And so this is a sense of a way of getting a little bit more control over the fear because it’s going to work its way out no matter what. So you might as well have a little bit of say-so in it, right? So All right, my friends, I hope you enjoyed today’s episode. Please make sure you like and subscribe.
