HOPE FOR THE NEW YEAR

A BEAUTIFUL RESET

I love big transitions that open the doors to new opportunities! New Year’s is one of those times of the year when I hit the reset button in my life. Like I use the changing seasons and my birthday to evaluate all the areas in my life, the first day of a new year is also an exciting time for me.

As I have evolved in my spiritual journey, I have dropped the word resolution from my vocabulary and instead use this time to set intentions and look at my life with a little more scrutiny to determine what I want to focus on next. Resolution is a problem that needs to be solved, whereas intentions are directions toward our desires.

While the world adjusts to writing a new number for the new year, we can celebrate all we’ve accomplished in the past year and ready ourselves for all the new and exciting things that are coming up for the new one!

THE BEAUTY OF HOPE

As I contemplated this message for the new year, I was guided to bring up a particular word: HOPE! This word, for me, feels so good, pure, and inviting. A wonderful calm rushes over me as I sit with this word and what it means:

According to Webster’s Dictionary, hope means:

  • To cherish a desire with anticipation
  • To want something to happen or to be true
  • To desire with expectation of attainment or fulfillment
  • To expect with confidence and trust

With hope comes faith and trust, and those two words are equally important. As we look forward to a new year, we must ask ourselves:

  • How much can I trust myself?
  • How much can I trust in creation to support me in my endeavors?
  • How can I allow hope to build my faith and confidence in myself in all that I do?

ARE YOU FULFILLED?

As we greet the new year with curiosity and hope, a few more questions come up for us to explore:

  • How fulfilled am I?
  • What areas of my life could use improvement?
  • Where is the bottleneck preventing me from reaching my highest level of fulfillment?

When asking myself these questions, I find it incredibly important to be as honest as possible so that the answers provide the most clarity for my situation. I often find that the bottleneck is me. I’m the key factor in what’s slowing me down in reaching peak fulfillment in certain areas of my life.

With that realization, I can remove the self-imposed blockages and get focused on what needs to become a priority in the here and now.

CHANGING PRIORITIES

As we evolve and make tremendous strides in certain areas of our lives, we celebrate our successes and take what we’ve learned through those wins into other areas of our lives. A few years back, my priority was business, and now that area of my life is blessed with abundance.

Then my family became the priority as my husband, and I wanted to expand our family with a child. As we both enjoy this new experience as parents, it’s time to focus on a new area calling me: health.

This year, I am excited to reach a new level of fulfillment in my health as I focus on that area. This is where I want to bring a lot of focus and fulfillment because the areas I have previously prioritized are doing great! Now I can apply that focus to a new area to achieve what I have with my family and business!

DIFFERENT LEVELS OF FOCUS

Do you want to focus on all areas of your life? Absolutely! While you can make one area your top priority, all the other areas of your life still need attention. As I focus on my health and bring it to a higher level of fulfillment, I will still be investing in my business and family to keep those vibrations high.

In every area of your life, it’s important to have hope that you can make the changes to see those desires being fulfilled. You must trust in yourself and the universe that you will have that fulfillment. You have to have faith that you will be guided to take action on your desires and the behaviors, patterns, and even relationships that no longer serve you.

BEFRIEND DISCOMFORT

Change is required whenever you hit the reset button or want to manifest something different.

With the change, you’ll get uncomfortable, so you have to befriend discomfort. For example, if I set the intention to learn a new skill, I must be willing:

  • To practice the new skill
  • Make mistakes as I’m learning a new skill
  • Make room on my schedule to dedicate to the new skill
  • To say no to certain things
  • To say yes to certain things

All of those decisions will have different degrees of discomfort. Some might be really uncomfortable, and some might only be slightly uncomfortable, but there will always be a stretch outside your comfort zone when you set the intention to change.

LOOKING BACK

You are your life’s ultimate creator, so if you want these changes to happen, you get to make those decisions. You get to say no to things. You get to say yes to things. You get to get uncomfortable.

It’s cool to think about because you’re stretching yourself, and when you look back at it six months from now, a year from now, five years from now, you’re going to be like:

“Thank God I did that! Thank God I was willing to work outside my comfort zone and be okay with making change because I had hope. I had faith. I really wanted to be fulfilled in this area of my life and had trust in the process!”

And then you get to celebrate how far you’ve come!

DREAM BIG

Wherever you are in your journey and whatever you want to create, I want to encourage you to dream big. I encourage you to stretch yourself outside your comfort zone.

I want you to look at what areas in your life you want to become more fulfilled and why. Why? Because that’s going to help you work through your discomfort. You might be breaking off relationships that no longer serve you or making a huge career change to move towards that fulfillment. It’s okay to feel sad as you make these transitions.

It’s also okay to let go of something you are genuinely good at but no longer feel fulfilled. You can be good at something and not feel fulfilled. You can have the admiration of others looking at you excelling in an area and still not feel the fulfillment you desire to have.

It is okay to be honest with yourself and say, “This ship has sailed, and it’s time for something new! It’s time for me to stretch myself. It’s time for me to be the creator I was created to be.”

You deserve that. Dream big, my friends, and most importantly, have hope, faith, and trust in yourself. Move confidently into this new year so it can be your best one yet!

Full transcription of the episode:

Hello everyone, and welcome to today’s episode. I am so excited you are here. I love when there’s something big that’s about to happen, like the New Year. It’s a great opportunity to hit the reset button. I love using the season’s changes to hit the reset button, the New Year to hit the reset button, and my birthday to hit the reset button. You can use anything on your calendar that you want to hit the reset button at any time of the year.

People get really excited about the new year because they have an opportunity to set New Year’s resolutions and I don’t like using that particular word, and I’ll tell you why. I don’t like the word resolution because it means there’s a problem and that you have to solve the problem. I, personally like setting intentions or goals, but sometimes goals can be a little bit too much pressure for some people, so it just depends on you. You might work really well with the word resolution. You might work really well with intention or goal.

When we’re looking at words, and we’re looking at rolling into the new year, think about what you’re saying, and you’re saying it because that holds a particular vibration that’s going to assist you in manifesting your next chapter in your life, your next new year in your life. Maybe you’re a person that’s like, “Hmmm I don’t really get into the whole ‘let’s do something big for New Years.” That’s okay too.

Either way, I think whatever it is, or whatever you’re celebrating at this moment in time or getting ready to celebrate, I think it’s important to always hit the reset button at different times of the year and to evaluate what’s working in your life and what’s not and what your true desires are and how you can have more fulfillment in your life. And I’m being guided to bring up a word that I think is really, really powerful. It’s a powerful word. I also think it’s a word that, for me, it just feels so yummy, and it feels pure, and it feels inviting, and I feel good when I think about this word. And that word is hope. Hope.

And I’m being guided to share the definition. This is from Webster’s dictionary. Hope means, in the verb format, to cherish a desire with anticipation, to want something to happen or to be true. The verb to desire with expectation of attainment or fulfillment. To expect with confidence and trust. I love anything; when it comes to life, we have to have certain things that keep us moving forward, and I think that faith, I think that hope does this for us. I think trust, in terms of hope, is really important. How much can you trust yourself? How much can you trust in creation to support you in your endeavors?

Then the next question you want to ask yourself is, “How fulfilled am I?” How fulfilled are you truly? And what areas of your life could use improvement? Because, for me, I know I want to be really, really honest with myself about how fulfilled I am in each area of my life and where is the bottleneck. Where is the thing that’s preventing me from being the most fulfilled I can be in that area? And sometimes, it’s me. A lot of times, it’s me. A lot of times, we’re our own bottleneck.

We’re our own energy, our own person that’s creating the discord, the slow-down, the swimming upstream, and when we get really honest with ourselves, we then get an opportunity to start to change it. I then decide what area of my life I really, really want to make a priority. I know a while ago, it was business, and then a few years ago, it was family. Family was a really, really big priority to me, and to my husband. We wanted to have a baby. And for me moving into this new year, and last year it was also health, but for this year, it’s a new level of health. A new level of health that I want to achieve. And so, that is where I want to bring a lot of focus and fulfillment because in these other areas of my life, I find that I’m doing well. They’re doing great, and so now I can start focusing on these other areas.

Do you want to focus on all areas of your life? Absolutely! I think it’s really, really important. And then it’s important to have that hope that you can make those changes, that you can hope that the desires that you have will be fulfilled. And then you have to trust in yourself, and in the universe, that you will have that fulfillment and you will be guided and that you will take action on those desires. And then, you will also take action on the behaviors and patterns that are no longer serving you, on the relationships that are no longer serving you.

‘Whenever you’re hitting the reset button, whenever you want to manifest something different, change is required. And with change, you’re going to get uncomfortable, so you have to befriend discomfort. You really, really have to befriend discomfort. And I look at it this way…If I want to, let’s say, learn a new skill, I have to be willing to practice that new skill. I have to be willing to make mistakes which makes me uncomfortable. I have to be willing to set aside the time to practice. I have to be willing to say no to certain things, to say yes to certain things and so all of those decisions will have different degrees of discomfort. So some things might be really uncomfortable, and some might be super easy to do but slightly uncomfortable. It just really depends on what it is.

You are the ultimate creator in your life, and so if you want these changes to happen, you get to make those decisions. You get to say no to things. You get to say yes to things. You get to get uncomfortable, which is really cool to think about because you’re stretching yourself, and when you look back at it six months from now, a year from now, five years from now, you’re going to be like, “Thank God I did that! Thank God I had the willingness to work outside my comfort zone and be okay with making change because I had hope. I had faith. I had trust, and I really wanted to be fulfilled in this area of my life.” And then you get to celebrate, which is really cool.

Wherever you’re at in your journey, and whatever it is that you want to create, I want to encourage you to dream big. I want to encourage you to stretch yourself outside your comfort zone. First, I want you to look at what areas in your life you want to become more fulfilled in and why. Why? Because that’s going to help you work through your discomfort. So if you have to start breaking relationships and you’re feeling sad or maybe a little uneasy about it, why are you doing that? Maybe that person doesn’t deserve a role in your life anymore. Maybe that person just isn’t a good friend. Whatever the case is, there’s always a reason why you want that fulfillment.

Maybe you want to start something new in your career because you’re burnt out, and you want to do something more fun, and you want to stretch yourself. I know, for me, when I made a career change, I was bored. I was so bored. I needed something different. I needed a new challenge, and that’s okay too. You can be really good at something and not be fulfilled. Let me say that again, and I really want you to allow that to land. You can be really good at something; you can be looking like it’s so amazing to everyone else, and they’re like, “Why are you not fulfilled?” It’s okay! It is okay to be honest with yourself and say, “this ship has sailed, and it’s time for something new! It’s time for me to stretch myself. It’s time for me to be the creator I am meant to be.”

You deserve that. You totally deserve that. So dream big, my friends. Get really honest with yourself. And most importantly, have hope. Have faith. Trust. Have confidence and write down what it is that you seek and at least share it with one person because you’re more likely to achieve that goal, that intention.

Alright, my friends. I hope you have an amazing new year. I’m looking forward to seeing you in the new year. We’re going to be celebrating some new, big things. Happy New Year! Goodbye!
