Episode 236: The Key to Emotional Freedom

In this episode, I share why it's so important to feel the full spectrum of emotions — even the ones we usually try to avoid. I offer a simple practice to help you move energy in just 30 seconds, plus a few tools that support emotional shifts when you're feeling stuck.

There are all sorts of feelings, all sorts of emotions that we have the opportunity to feel.

And oftentimes, most people want to stay away from certain emotions, like anger, sadness, rage, grief, and fear.

That’s not the first emotion you want to feel.

Most people want to feel happy, joyful, excited, and at peace.

But here’s the thing: with duality, we have the opportunity to feel both ends of the spectrum.

And because we were given that opportunity, we also have the ability to shift energy really, really quickly.

If you’re wondering how to heal yourself, this is the first step—recognizing the power you hold to transform what you feel.

Understanding the steps to emotional healing will help you navigate this process with more clarity.

You don’t have to sit with a particular emotion for very long in order to transform it.

That’s actually really beautiful if you think about it.

If you’ve been pushing away — pushing away, pushing away — a particular feeling,
Let’s just say sadness, because you don’t want to feel it.

You don’t want to cry…

???? Emotions Are Meant to Move

Our bodies are designed to process emotions.

And when you actually allow yourself to process it, you might yawn.

You might cry.

You might pass some gas.

You might feel the urge to stretch your body.

What’s happening is — you’re moving that energy through your body.

In fact, energy emotions like sadness or anger are signals that transformation is taking place within.

You’re making space for a new emotion to come through.

You’re inviting a new thought form that supports the feeling you truly want to embody.

So next time you’re trying to avoid crying,

Or avoid feeling mad, or sad, or disappointed…

Remember: all of those emotions were gifted to you.

Learning how to heal yourself begins with this acceptance.

You chose to come here.

You had a contract to come here.

You made all sorts of agreements to be in this lifetime — to experience certain things.

And those experiences require you to feel certain emotions.

So the next time you feel mad, feel it.

Thank it.

“I get to feel mad right now.”

And not only do I get to feel it — I get to move it through my body.

I get to allow something new to come forward, just by acknowledging it.

It doesn’t mean staying in it forever.

Sometimes it’s just like: “You know what? I’m really mad. I’m really angry about this. This is why I’m angry.”

And in that moment, you free yourself.

Because you gave yourself the opportunity to speak it out loud.

⏳ A Simple Practice to Shift

So, how do you free yourself?

First, feel the emotion you’re feeling.

This is the foundation of how to heal yourself on an emotional level.

Pay attention to the energy emotions behind the surface feeling—they point you toward what needs love and care.

Process it.

Set a timer for 30 seconds.

Feel it fully.

Then cancel it.

And choose a new thought.

A new feeling.

One thing you want to feel.

Give yourself permission to feel that for at least 30 seconds, too.

Managing difficult emotions also means practicing this awareness regularly.

When you do this, you’re actively shifting your energy towards alignment with what you desire.

I promise — you’ll feel so much better.

And you’ll open yourself to something new.

???? When You’re Really Stuck

Now, if you’ve been in a funk for a while…

You’ve felt the feelings…

And it just seems hard to get out…

I get it.

Sometimes we land in a whirlpool of emotions.

It’s hard to see how to get off the ride.

It’s hard to get out of the spin.

One of the most powerful ways I’ve found to shift frequency is through music.

Music can be key in how to heal yourself energetically.

Find music.

Play it.

Find a chanting song.

Find an upbeat song that lifts you.

Move your body.

Go for a walk.

Do something to get that energy moving.

But first, acknowledge it.

If you haven’t truly acknowledged what you’re feeling,

It’s going to stay with you until you do.

So feel it.

Acknowledge it.

Then begin doing things that help you shift.

Sometimes, it might take a few days.

Keep doing things that help you move into a new frequency.

One that feels good to your soul.

To your heart.

To your energy.

We all go through Dark Nights of the Soul.

And it’s not just one night — it’s a whole chapter.

Then one day, a new chapter comes.

Maybe a year later.

Maybe several years later.

That’s how we evolve.

It’s not a straight line.

It’s not clean and linear.

And neither is flow.

You flow, and you flow again — and you get to be in that flow.

Give yourself permission to feel.

Permission to let go.

Permission to invite something new in.

Do something that helps those new feelings come in.

Something that uplifts you.

There are so many songs.

So many mantras.

So many movements that can help.

So go ahead.

Hey, Amy Robeson here. Thank you for joining me on this podcast where we talk about spirituality, the awakening process, mental health, and so much more. Join me weekly to get your weekly dose of spirituality and medicine. I look forward to seeing you on the inside. Hello. Welcome to today’s episode. I’m so excited. You are here. There is all sorts of feelings, all sorts of emotions that we have the opportunity to feel. And Oftentimes, most people are wanting to stay away from certain emotions, like anger, or sadness, or rage, grief, fear, all sorts of emotions, right? That’s not the first emotion you want to feel. Most people want to feel happy, joy, excited, at peace. Here’s the thing. With duality, we have the opportunity to feel both ends of the spectrum. And because we were given this opportunity, we also have the ability to manipulate energy really, really quickly, so quickly. And the reason for that is because you don’t have to sit with a particular emotion very long in order to transform it. That’s really neat if you think about it. If you’ve been pushing away, pushing away, pushing away, pushing away, pushing away, a particular feeling, let’s just say, sadness, because you don’t to feel, you don’t want to cry.

Our bodies are designed to process it. And when you actually process it, you might yawn, you might cry, you might have some gas, you might have some wanting to stretch your body because what you’re doing is you’re moving that energy through your body, and you’re making space for a new emotion to over, a new thought form that supports a feeling that you want to embody. So the next time you’re trying to avoid crying, or to avoid feeling mad, or to avoid feeling sad, or to avoid feeling disappointed, remember, all of those emotions were gifted to you. You chose to come here. You had a contract to come here. You made all sorts of contracts to come, to be in this lifetime, to experience certain things. And those certain things, in those certain contracts require you to feel certain emotions. So the next time you feel mad, feel it. Thank it. I get to actually feel mad right now. And not only do I get to feel mad, I get to take this emotion, move it through my body, and allow something else to come forward once I move it, once I acknowledge it. It doesn’t mean staying in it forever.

Because sometimes it’s just like, You know what? I’m really mad. I’m really angry about this. This is why I’m angry about it. All right, my friends, let’s jump back into the episode. How do you free yourself? One is feel the emotion that you’re feeling, process it, take 30 seconds, set a Timer, feel it. Once you’re done feeling it, cancel it, and then choose a different thought and a different feeling that you want to choose, and then give yourself permission to feel that for at least 30 seconds as well.

I promise you, you will feel so much better, and you will allow yourself to open yourself up to something new. Another way to change the energy, especially if you find yourself like you’re just in a place where you’ve been in a funk for a while, you’re tired of being in a funk, you have felt the feelings, and it feels like it’s hard to escape those feelings because you’ve been in it. And I get it. Sometimes we just end up in a whirlpool of emotions, and it’s hard to see how to get off the ride, how to get out of the whirlpool. And the best way, and one of the most powerful ways that I have found that will get you out of that frequency is to find music, find music and play it. Find music and play it. Find a chanting song. Find an upbeat song that allows you to get into a different frequency. Move your body. Go for a walk. Do something that allows you to get that energy out. But first, you must, you must acknowledge it. If you haven’t fully acknowledged it, it’s going to stay there until you acknowledge it.

So feel it, acknowledge it, and then start doing things that allow you to get out of the funk. And that might require several days of doing something to allow you to move into a new frequency match that feels really good for your soul, for your heart, for your energy. And we all go through dark Nights of the Soul, and it’s not a single night. It’s a chapter. And then a new chapter comes maybe a year later or several years later. We are like this when it comes to our evolution. It’s not a straight line. And what flow looks like is like that as well. You flow, you flow, and you get to be in flow. So give yourself permission to feel. Give yourself permission to let those feelings go, invite new feelings in, and do something that allows you to invite those feelings in that uplifts you. There’s lots of different songs. There’s lots of different mantras and chants. There’s lots of different movements that you can make that will allow you to do that. So go ahead and do it, my friend, because you will not regret it. Please make sure you like and subscribe.
