Title: Episode 182: Finding Your Purpose in Life
Life can be super fast, and at times, it can feel like it’s dragging its feet.
Amidst this ebb and flow, it’s crucial to ask yourself: what are you meant to be doing?
Each of us has multiple purposes to fulfill throughout our lives, and your soul is eager for you to embrace them.
If you find yourself on a path that feels misaligned, pause and reflect.
What are you procrastinating on?
Identifying these areas can guide you in finding your purpose in life.
Consider what you should be doing at this moment to draw closer to your dream life and achieve your goals.
Procrastination often leads to taking the long way around.
While you will eventually reach where you’re meant to be if a dream or goal lingers in your mind—regardless of how many months or years it’s been—it’s a sign that your soul, your higher self, is trying to get your attention.
❤️ Listening to Your Soul and Taking Action
You receive countless messages from your soul, your ancestors, animals, and various guides along your journey.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign—something to bop you on the head and say, “Hey, go do that thing”—consider this your message.
Today’s episode is your green light to start taking action toward your goals.
Remember, no one else will do it for you.
You need to communicate to the universe that you are serious about finding your purpose in life and bringing your dreams to fruition.
When you begin to take those steps, the universe will respond with questions: “Are you serious about this? Do you really want to pursue this next opportunity?”
I experienced this firsthand when I left my career.
I was presented with a part-time job in the same field, but every fiber of my being shouted, “No.”
It was a clear message from my higher self guiding me away from what didn’t align with my true purpose.
So, as you reflect on how to know your purpose in life, trust those intuitive nudges.
Take action, and watch how the universe starts to align with your intentions.
🦋 Personal Story: Leaving My Career
My mental body wrestled with the decision; I could really use the money, especially with my upcoming wedding.
Having that extra income felt crucial for my sense of security.
However, let me clarify: I’m not suggesting you quit your job impulsively.
I had savings and was prepared to make a change.
Sometimes, we must take risks and say no to certain opportunities to signal to the universe that we’re serious about finding our purpose in life.
When I say “they,” I mean your ancestors and creation itself—they will test you.
They want to know if you’re truly committed, especially as your life is about to shift.
In my case, I called the dealership and said, “I’m really sorry, but I’m going to pass on this opportunity.”
I knew that what was labeled as part-time would likely mean more than 40 hours a week, and I wasn’t willing to compromise my values.
The manager laughed, and that was okay.
I stood firm in my decision.
Trust those moments of clarity as you reflect on how to know your purpose in life.
Saying no can open doors to the paths that truly resonate with your soul.
🌈 Turning Down Opportunities for Bigger Dreams
Leaving that opportunity was one of the best decisions I made.
Now, I get to connect with people from all around the world, and it has truly been life-changing.
I’m so grateful I took those steps, as each one has led me to this fulfilling point in my life.
The same thing happened when I was teaching part-time while starting my yoga business.
After a year, I realized I couldn’t continue juggling both.
Once I found a replacement for my classes, I decided to shut down my in-person office, which was located inside a chiropractor’s office.
My space was so cute, and I was incredibly proud of it—it had been a dream of mine.
But deep down, I knew it was time to move strictly online.
As I prepared to close that chapter, the chiropractor mentioned, “Hey, Amy, just so you know, my wife’s a personal trainer.”
This simple conversation opened up new connections and possibilities I hadn’t anticipated.
Trusting those pivotal moments and decisions can help you on your journey to finding your purpose in life.
Remember, sometimes saying goodbye to one path makes way for another that aligns even more closely with your true self.
Embrace the changes; they often lead to extraordinary growth.
🌌 Overcoming Tests from the Universe
As I was preparing to transition, the chiropractor approached me with an exciting proposal: “We’re going to turn the front space into a gym for personal training and chiropractic services, and we’d love for you to be our solo private yoga instructor. How does that sound?”
This was yet another test from the universe, asking, “Are you serious about pursuing the next step in your journey?”
While the offer was incredibly tempting and would have provided me with peace of mind, I knew deep down that I was destined for bigger things.
And here’s the truth: you are destined for bigger things too.
No matter what your dreams or goals may be, you have the potential for so much more.
It’s essential to step outside the small box you’ve created for yourself and recreate the container that truly aligns with your purpose.
We’re not meant to be confined to boxes.
In sacred geometry, a cube represents a limitation—it keeps you stuck.
That’s why you often hear the phrase, “Don’t put me in a box.”
When you’re in that rigid shape, nothing can come in or go out.
To truly thrive, you need to remove yourself from those constraints and enter a space that allows for expansion, creativity, and growth.
You are meant to be incredibly creative, and remember, creativity looks different for everyone.
It would be so dull if we all expressed ourselves in the same way.
So, take a moment to reflect: how are you holding yourself back from your dreams?
Are you overcomplicating things or overthinking your choices?
Are you hesitant because pursuing your goals requires stepping outside your comfort zone?
🌟 Taking Calculated Risks for Growth
True growth happens when you embrace discomfort.
It’s essential to allow yourself to take risks—calculated risks can be empowering.
For example, when I moved to be with my now husband, I saved a certain amount of money beforehand, ensuring I was prepared before leaving my career.
This gave me the space to pause and figure out my next steps.
Many people remain in the same job out of fear they won’t earn the same amount elsewhere.
But remember, taking risks can lead you to greater fulfillment and help you discover your true purpose.
Embrace the journey of finding your purpose in life, and don’t let fear hold you back.
Your creativity deserves to flourish!
Here’s the truth: it doesn’t always come down to money; it comes down to happiness.
Are you truly going to be happier if you ignore what your soul is guiding you to pursue?
Trust that the universe will always take care of you.
Creation has your back, even if the support doesn’t manifest in the way you expect.
When you ask for what you desire, try saying, “I ask for this or something greater.”
This opens the door for the universe to create a plan that exceeds your wildest dreams.
I’ve experienced this firsthand—whenever I follow the energy, I often have a preconceived notion of how things will turn out, and they always end up being even better than I imagined.
🙏 Choosing Faith Over Fear
With this journey comes an act of surrender.
You may need to lean into blind faith at times, but remember: that faith is a far more powerful force than fear.
Both require the same amount of energy, so why not choose faith?
If you’re interested in exploring this topic further, check out my episode on fear versus faith at theamyrobeson.com/podcast.
It’s fascinating to realize that fear and faith require the same amount of energy.
So why not lean into faith?
Why not take calculated risks and plan your next steps?
This doesn’t mean you should quit everything and expect a complete transformation overnight.
Taking small, intentional steps toward your goals can bring your dreams to fruition.
For me, it all started with a desire to do something different.
I didn’t even know what that meant—I just kept saying, “I want to do something different.”
I began to follow the energy and explore my interests.
I found myself drawn to meditation and dream interpretation.
Then, an opportunity arose: “Would you like to be a meditation teacher?”
My heart said yes, even though I didn’t fully understand what it entailed.
I embraced that chance and continued to seek out new paths of learning.
💪 Transforming Fear into Strength
When I recognized my fear of public speaking, I took a proactive approach: I decided to study something that would help me overcome it—teaching yoga.
There are countless small steps we can take to confront our fears and transform them into strengths.
For me, this journey involved seeking out training opportunities that resonated with my goals.
I remember when I wanted to take my first meditation course.
At the time, I didn’t have the funds, so I asked my now-husband, who was my boyfriend back then, to gift it to me for my birthday.
The course cost $300, which felt significant then.
Looking back, I wouldn’t blink at that expense now, but I understand how every dollar can weigh heavily on someone’s budget.
Investing in yourself is crucial for finding your purpose in life; it’s not just about the money.
It’s about setting a clear intention for what you hope to gain from that investment.
Each dollar spent can yield invaluable returns in personal growth and self-discovery.
When you invest in training or mentorship, you’re not only gaining knowledge but also folding time in your journey.
A good mentor can provide insights and guidance that help you know your purpose in life more clearly.
It’s important to recognize that you can certainly dive deep into research on your own.
We live in an age abundant with information, so take advantage of the plethora of free resources available to you.
However, it’s crucial to exercise discernment in determining what resonates with you and aligns with your unique path.
Regardless of how you gather information, the key is to take actionable steps toward finding your purpose in life.
Perhaps you’re seeking to reduce stress.
Ask yourself, “What would help me achieve that?”
Maybe it’s going for a walk. Great! Hold yourself accountable by scheduling it in your calendar: “I’m going for a walk today, even if it’s just around my house.”
If you’ve been wanting to meditate more, set aside 15 minutes to explore different types of meditation.
This could be your first action step toward how to know your purpose in life.
Perhaps you’re interested in growing your intuition.
Consider what resources could support you in this journey: researching online, listening to podcasts, or finally picking up that book you’ve had on your audible or bookshelf for ages but haven’t yet made time to read.
💜 Momentum in Manifestation
No matter where you are in your journey, there are always actionable steps you can take.
Once you embark on that first step, it’s essential to keep the momentum going.
Ask yourself, “What’s the next thing that will propel me forward?”
Maintaining this momentum is crucial; when you do, you’re not struggling to push a gigantic boulder uphill.
Instead, you’re moving with the support of spirit, making the process feel lighter and more effortless.
This flow is the essence of how manifestation works.
When you take those action steps, be honest with yourself about what you’re truly meant to be doing at this moment in your life.
Each chapter of your journey is just as important as the one before it, laying the groundwork for future growth and opportunities.
Consider how seriously you’re taking your dreams, desires, and goals.
If you’re not fully committed, the universe may mirror that lack of seriousness, assuming you don’t genuinely want what you say you do.
When you embrace your aspirations with intention, you signal to the universe that you are ready to receive.
Reflect on how often you check in with your goals.
Are you actively pursuing them, or are distractions pulling you away?
By prioritizing your dreams and taking consistent action, you create powerful momentum that draws in opportunities and support from the universe.
Remember, take those small action steps. They don’t have to be big, and you will see progress in finding your purpose in life.
With love and blessings,

Hey, Amy Robeson here. Thank you for joining me on this podcast where we talk about spirituality, the awakening process, mental health, and so much more. Join me weekly to get your weekly dose of spirituality and medicine. I look forward to seeing you on the inside. Hello. Welcome to today’s episode. I’m so excited you are here. Oh, my goodness. Life can be super fast. It can also feel like it’s dragging its feet at times. The main thing is for you to ask yourself what you’re meant to be doing. There are many purposes that you have in your lifetime to fulfill, and your soul wants you to fulfill so many of them. If you are on a path that doesn’t feel aligned, stop and ask yourself, what are you procrastinating on? What are you meant to be doing in this moment that will get you closer to your dream life, towards your goals, towards the reality that you truly want? Stop procrastinating. Procrastination causes you to take the long long way around. Eventually, you’re going to get to where you’re meant to be. But if there is a dream or a goal that just hasn’t gone away, no matter how many years it’s been or how many months it’s been, and you still keep thinking about it, but you haven’t put action steps, you haven’t taken steps towards that goal, towards that dream, your soul, your higher self is trying to get your attention.
And today’s episode is all about listening to your soul. You have so many messages that come to you from your soul, from your ancestors, from animals, from different guides, and they’re sending you messages along the way. And so I’m here to tell you, if you’ve been waiting for something to bop you on the head and say, Hey, go ahead and go do that thing, this is today’s episode. This This is your message. This is your green light. Start taking action towards your goals. No one else is going to do it for you. You have to tell the universe that you are serious and that you really want that thing to come to fruition. And let me tell you what’s going to happen. When you do start taking action toward your goals, the universe is going to say, Hey, are you serious about it? Are you serious? Do you want to make sure that you want to do this very next thing? I know for me when I left my career, I got a new job opportunity to work part-time in my previous career, and every ounce of my body and being was like, no.
But my mental body was like, I could really use the money. I’m about to get married. Having that extra income would be really important just because I would have a sense of security. Now, please note, that I’m not telling you to go out and quit your job. I did have money in the bank and I was prepared to leave. However, sometimes we have to make risky moves, and sometimes we have to say no to something in order to tell the universe when they’re testing us. Because when I say they, it’s your ancestors. It’s creation. They’ll test you. Like, are you serious? Because your life is about to change. For that case, I called back the dealership and said, Hey, I’m really sorry, but I’m going to pass on this opportunity because I know that you’re offering me part-time, but I know that part-time is really 40 hours a week, and I will be asked to stay late, which will be more than 40 hours a week, even if I’m only doing it three or four days a week. And the GM laughed at me. And that’s okay. I’m okay with that. And I said, No.
And it was one of the best things I did because I’m doing this now and I love it. I get to talk to people all around the world. It’s been life-changing for me because my life has changed in so many amazing ways I’m so grateful I took those steps, and I’m so grateful that each step led me to this point in my life. And same thing happened when I was teaching part-time when I started my business, yoga. And after a year of doing it, I realized I just couldn’t do it anymore. And when I left and I found a replacement for all my classes, I went to shut down my office where I was taking in-person clients because I decided I was going to move strictly online and not have an in-person office. And it was inside of a chiropractor’s office. My office was so cute. I was so proud of myself because it was such a dream of mine to have that space. But I knew it was time. And this chiropractor that owned this building, he was like, Hey, Amy, just so you know, my wife’s a personal trainer.
We’re going to turn the entire front space into a gym so we can do PT, we can do chiropractor, and we would like for you to be our solo private yoga instructor. How would you like that? And again, Again, another test from the universe that says, Hey, are you serious about doing this next thing that you want to do? And I politely had to decline it because the offer was so amazing. And it would have given me peace of mind again. However, I knew I was destined for bigger things. And here’s the thing. You are destined for bigger things. No matter what the dream is, no matter what the goal is, you are destined for bigger things. Step outside of the small box that you put yourself in and recreate the container that you truly want to be in because we’re not meant to be in boxes. As sacred geometry, a cube, a box, it keeps someone stuck. That’s why you often will hear that term, don’t put me in a box. Literally, in that particular sacred geometry shape, nothing can come in and nothing can go out. And so you have to literally remove yourself from it so that you can be in the container that allows expansion, allows creativity, allows your soul to create because you’re all meant to create in this lifetime.
You are meant to be so creative. Creativity is different from person to person. Creativity is not meant to be the same thing for everyone. That would be so boring. You can express yourself in so many different ways. And so how are you holding yourself back from your dreams? I want you to ask yourself that. Just take a moment. How are you holding yourself back? Are you overcomplicating things? Are you overthinking things? Are you scared because it requires a certain risk? And so that means you’re going to be outside your comfort zone because guess what? True growth happens in your comfort zone. And unless you are making yourself uncomfortable, unless you are telling yourself, it is okay for me to take risks, and they can be calculated risks. I’m here to tell you that I love taking calculated risks. And what do I mean by that? When I moved to be with my now husband, I saved up a certain amount of money so I knew that I was okay before I left my career and could take some time off to just be and figure myself out. And that’s a calculated risk. Sometimes people will stay in the same career or in the same position because they feel that they might not be able to make the same amount of money.
And here’s the thing, it doesn’t always come down to money, it comes down to happiness. Are you going to be more happy not be pursuing the thing that your soul is guiding you to pursue, knowing that the universe is always going to take care of you? Creation is always going to take care of you. And it might not happen in the way that you perceive it’s supposed to happen. Because oftentimes, if we state this, I ask for this or greater. I ask for this or greater. That allows the universe to come up with a plan that’s better than you could ever imagine. I know that when you follow the energy, and this is true for me, whenever I follow the energy, I always have this preconceived notion of how it might turn out, and it always turns out way better than what it ever has turned out to be. And with that being said, there is an act of surrender that has to happen, and you have to go off of blind faith to some degree. And faith is better than being in fear because it takes the same amount of energy. You can have fear versus faith.
And there’s an episode, if you want to go to my website, you go to theamyrobeson.com/podcast. You can search for fear versus faith, and you can check out that episode. It takes the same amount of energy. If you are in fear versus you are in faith, same amount of energy. So why not lean into faith? Why not take calculated risks? Have things planned out. It doesn’t mean you go out and you quit everything and expect everything to change in one day. Taking small steps towards your goals will allow you to bring that to fruition. And so for me, it’s like I want to do something different. This was my dream. I didn’t even know what it was. I just kept saying, I want to do something different. I don’t know what that was. And so I just follow the energy. What am I interested in? Oh, I’m interested in meditation. I’m interested in dream interpretation. Oh, the next thing comes along. Hey, do you want to be a meditation teacher? I don’t know what that means, but my heart telling me yes to do that. Sure, I’ll do that. Oh, what about this other little thing that you can go and study?
That sounds really good. I think I’m going to study that. Oh, I have a fear of public speaking. Let me study something that I know will help me get over my fear of public speaking, which is teaching yoga. There’s all these little things that we can do. And just so you know, I’m talking about pieces of training here that I was guided to take. I, at the moment, when I took my first meditation course, I didn’t have any money for that. I asked my now husband, my boyfriend at the time if he could buy that for me for my birthday. And it was such a big deal because the course was $300 And now I wouldn’t blink an eye at that. But I know that some people are like every dollar counts in their budget. And so know that any time you invest in yourself, you have to set an intention of what you’re going to get back on that investment because investments do allow you to fold time. Investments do allow you to grow because you have someone who’s there to help you mentor you and show you things that you might not be able to see if you just go down the rabbit hole of research on your own.
Please note that you can also go down the rabbit hole of research on your own. There are lots of free resources. We live in a time of great information, so you have to be able to use discernment on what’s true for you and what’s truly in alignment with your path as well. No matter what, you can full-time. You have to take the action steps towards your goals, towards your purposes that you are being guided to do. And so maybe you’re wanting to have less stress in your life. Ask yourself, what would allow you to have less stress in your life? Going for a walk. Great. Hold yourself accountable. Put it in your calendar. I’m going for a walk today, even if it’s around my house. Maybe you’ve been wanting to meditate more. Maybe set aside 15 minutes so you can research different types of meditation. That could be the first action step that you take dig. Maybe you want to grow your intuition. So what will assist you in growing your intuition? Maybe it’s research, maybe it’s listening to podcasts, maybe there’s a book that you’ve had in your audible, or Maybe it’s on your bookshelf that you’ve been wanting to read for quite some time, but you haven’t taken the time to read it or to listen to it.
Whatever the case is, there are always action steps. And once you take that first action step, keep the momentum going. What’s the next thing that will keep the momentum going? And once you stay in momentum, you’re not pushing a big, gigantic boulder uphill without momentum. You are pushing it because the spirit’s with you pushing the boulder. Spirit’s allowing it to move. It’s allowing it to feel weightless once you’re in momentum. You’re not swimming upstream. You are swimming with the instead because you’re in flow. And this is how manifestation works. So take the action steps. Be honest with yourself about what you’re truly meant to be doing at this moment in time in your life. This chapter is just as important as the previous chapter and lays the foundation for future chapters in your life. So how seriously are you taking it? How serious are you taking your dreams your desires and your goals? Because if you’re not taking them seriously, the universe isn’t going to take you seriously. They’re just going to assume that you really just don’t want it. And so get your momentum going. Take yourself seriously. Take your dreams and goals seriously, and the universe will bless you.
Take those small action steps. They don’t have to be big, and you will see progress. You will see progress. All right, my friends, I hope you enjoyed today’s episode. Share this with a friend. Leave a comment, leave a review. I’d love to hear from you and don’t forget to subscribe. All right, I’ll see you in the next one. Bye.
