SIX WAYS TO BECOME MORE EMPOWERED

Being self-empowered can help you to improve your relationships, shift your perspective on life, boost your confidence and increase your happiness. Being self-empowered can completely change your reality.

Let’s talk about six different ways you can empower yourself every day:

  1. Take control of your life.
  2. Believe you are worthy.
  3. Be creative with your time.
  4. Pay attention to what you are consuming.
  5. Make self-care a #1 priority.
  6. Practice gratitude.

Being self-empowered can completely change your reality.

WAY #1: TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE

You are in charge of your own life. You can't give your power away to anybody unless you choose to give your power away. That also means taking responsibility for your words, deeds, actions, and thoughts. The more you take charge of this, it allows you to stand in your power and navigate life through a different lens.

Taking control of your life means you are no longer giving your power away to outside circumstances or other people. You are taking full responsibility for your experience. Oftentimes, we allow the past to define our future. And the more that we give ourselves permission to let go of the past, to let go of what it is that's influencing our behavior right now, the more that we're going to see a shift and change in energy and dynamics.

You are in charge of your own life.

WAY #2: BELIEVE YOU ARE WORTHY

The second way to become more self-empowered is to believe that you are worthy. When you feel worthy, it's easier to start navigating life. It's easier to stand in your power. Do you catch yourself talking to yourself in a negative way? Are you kind to yourself in your inner dialogue? Could changing that conversation help you develop a stronger sense of self-worth? The things that you say create your reality.

Pay attention to your thoughts throughout the day and catch a phrase that doesn't make you feel good. So let's say you have the tendency to say, "I hate my life." Well, that's a really strong statement. I want you to catch at least one statement that you say that impacts you, and then I want you to ask yourself how it impacts you. So how does it make you feel when you hear that statement?

Whatever negative self-talk that you're catching, how does it make you feel? And that's going to be key in owning yourself worth. If you can identify how it makes you feel, then you can shift the statement as well by choosing something different.

Shift your negative self-talk to increase your self-worthiness.

WAY #3: BE CREATIVE WITH YOUR TIME

When we feel disempowered, usually we'll feel stuck, we'll feel alone. We'll feel like things are outside of our control. And oftentimes, we'll feel as if there's nothing that we can do. So one of the things that I want to encourage you to do is be creative with your time.

Be creative with your outlets and how you're using your time. There are so many rules that people put upon how they think something is supposed to be done, and how they feel like it "should" be done. The one thing that we're all given is 24 hours in a day and how we choose to use our time is completely up to us. Also, it's also going back to number one, taking charge of your own life. You take charge of your time. This will also assist you in feeling empowered. It will allow you to make the changes that you're wanting to make in your life.

Be creative and really honest with your time.

WAY #4: PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ARE CONSUMING

Yes, we should be mindful of what we are putting into our physical body, with the foods we are eating, but I’m also a big believer in being mindful of what we are feeding ourselves on a mental, emotional, and spiritual level as well. There is “junk food” for these bodies as well:

  • Social media
  • Television and movies
  • Gaming
  • News
  • Social groups
  • Relationships
  • Activities
  • Books

All of these things can bring joy or positivity into our lives, or conversely, bring negativity into our head space. We have to pay close attention to how we are vibrating with the things we allow into our daily experience.

Your time is super valuable and your consumption influences the way you perceive yourself. It influences the way that you feel about your life. It influences your time and how you continue to spend your time. And one of the things that I want to encourage you to do is stop watching and consuming things online, on TV, and in print that makes you feel bad.

How you spend your time impacts your self-worth.

WAY #5: MAKE SELF-CARE A PRIORITY

No one can love you the way that you love yourself. You have to love yourself. You have to take care of yourself from a full cup. You are worthy of believing you deserve the kind of love you give to others.

A book that completely changed my life, How to Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, taught me this mantra: "I love and approve of myself.” This particular statement will help you start approving of yourself. It will help you start shifting your vibration. It will help you start looking at and viewing yourself through the lens of love. You deserve to be loved just as much as you love everybody else in your life. Please start giving yourself as much self-love as you possibly can.

Loving yourself is a constant practice that will evolve with you.

WAY #6: PRACTICE GRATITUDE

Find the littlest things to be grateful for. Those things will change your vibration. It will change your thoughts. It will change your worthiness. It will also help you to stay in charge of your own life and take responsibility for your own life as well. Because when you're finding things to be grateful for, even in the midst of chaos, you start to look at your life through a different lens.

Take some time during your day to notice what little things bring you happiness, a little boost of joy, and then thank the universe for these things. That will also increase your self-worth and self-empowerment. It will also remind you that you are in charge of your own life and your own experience.

When you're finding things to be grateful for, even in the midst of chaos, you start to look at your life through a different lens.

YOU DESERVE IT

You deserve to feel that you are worthy to have anything you want and create the life that you want.

You deserve to spend time on the things that you are excited about and with the people that you are excited about spending time with.

You deserve to be selective about what you consume and what you don't want to consume.

You deserve to take deep care of yourself and to love yourself unconditionally inside and out, the good parts, the bad parts, the shadow parts, and the indifferent parts.

You deserve to love all parts of you because you're magnificent and you're a miracle.

Being empowered, self-empowered can allow you to improve your relationship. It can shift your perspective around life. It can boost your confidence. It can increase your happiness. Being self-empowered can completely change your reality.

It also can assist in gravitating new opportunities to you, gravitating more people to you, and more opportunities as well. Today we're going to talk about six different ways you can become more self-empowered. And the first way is to take charge of your own life. You are in charge of your own life. You can't give your power away to anybody unless you choose to give your power away.

That also means taking responsibility for your words, deeds, actions, and thoughts. The more that you take charge of this. This allows you to stand in your power. This allows you to navigate life through a different lens as well. Because you're not giving your power away to someone else. You're not allowing an outside circumstance to define who you are and how you're going to navigate your life. If you are doing that, take a step back and ask yourself, how can I become more in control of this situation. Oftentimes, we allow the past to define our future. And the more that we give ourselves permission to let go of the past, to let go of what it is that's influencing our behavior right now, the more that we're going to see a shift and change in energy and dynamics.

The second way to become more self-empowered is to believe that you are worthy. And I think that the first step plays into the second step because once you take charge, then you can actually start looking at your self-worth. When you feel worthy, it's easier to start navigating life. It's easier to stand in your power. So what do you do when you don't feel worthy?

Well, one of the things you have to look at is yourself talk. Are you talking negatively about yourself? Are you talking negatively about your life? How are you interacting with your friends, coworkers, and colleagues? How do you talk about yourself in a way that's empowering? When I started noticing how I was talking about myself, I started realizing the things that I would say that would keep me in the cycle of unworthiness. And the things that you say create your reality. And so words cast spells. And when these words cast spells, they start to create your self-worth as well. And so if you're saying things like, "I'm stupid, I don't deserve that. I hate my life," those things definitely are going to impact the way that you are showing up for yourself, the way that you feel empowered and are also creating more of the same with the universe. And so watching your self-talk and owning your worthiness is key for empowerment.

What I suggest is paying attention to your thoughts throughout the day and catching a phrase that doesn't make you feel good. So let's say you have the tendency to say, "I hate my life." Well, that's a really strong statement. I want you to catch at least one statement that you say that impacts you, and then I want you to ask yourself how it impacts you. So how does it make you feel when you hear that statement? So maybe you're saying I don't deserve something. Or maybe you're saying I'm just a hot mess. I'm a hot mess Like that used to be one of my favorite things to say to people because I thought it was a sarcastic joke, but I really did feel like a hot mess and I didn't want other people to perceive that. So if I called it out, I just played into this feeling of unworthiness and that I was just such a disaster and my life was a disaster. And I didn't have that languaging. I wouldn't go out and tell someone like, "My life is a disaster." I would tell people I was a hot mess.

And when I'm thinking about that, I want to ask myself, how does that make me feel? So whatever statement that you're catching that you're noticing the negative self-talk that you're noticing, how does it make you feel? And that's going to be key in owning yourself worth. Because if you can identify how it makes you feel, then you can shift the statement as well by choosing something different. And so for me, maybe if I was saying in the past that I'm a hot mess, I can now shift that too. When I think about it now, it makes me feel sad. And so if I'm wanting to shift the feeling of feeling like a hot mess, maybe the mantra that I want to use is "I deserve to feel good." And so it could be something around "I deserve..." It can be an "I am"statement. It could be anything that you are desiring to shift from that negative self-talk.
But negative self-talk is going to definitely play into the empowerment. So you want to pay attention to the negative self-talk so you can increase your worthiness.

The next way that's going to allow you to feel more self-empowered is to be creative with your time. When we feel disempowered, usually we'll feel stuck, we'll feel alone. We'll feel like things are outside of our control. And oftentimes we'll feel as if there's nothing that we can do. So one of the things that I want to encourage you to do is be creative with your time. Don't set a lot of rules on how you're spending your time and finishing projects. So let me say that slightly different. If you are wanting to let's say, write, let's say you're wanting to journal and you feel the best time for you to journal is at 07:00 a.m., right when you wake up, but you're not getting it done. Well, it's time to be creative and be really honest about your time. 7:00 a.m. Is not working, so what is a different time that you can allow yourself to do this practice that will make you feel good? Maybe it's on your lunch break and it's just for five minutes. Maybe it's not even actually physically writing. Maybe it's making a voice memo. Maybe it's while you're driving on the way to an appointment and you're just recording yourself, talking out loud and getting out some of the feelings that you have.

Be creative with your outlets and how you're using your time. There are so many rules that people put upon how they think something is supposed to be done, and how they feel like it "should" be done. That whole word and I'm putting should in quotations. Should is a very strong statement. You could be doing something. Should, let's eliminate that from our vocabulary, and let's look at how you could make it happen. And where it can happen that you haven't tried in the past. I know for me, I'm in the process of writing and I love doing things first thing in the morning. That is when I'm the most creative. But right now in this chapter in my life, it is not working for me. It's not working for me. I have felt bad about it because it's not working for me first thing in the morning and I'm navigating this whole new toddler and being a mom and things like that. And so what's worked in the past for me is not working currently in my life. So I have to be creative with how I'm spending my time.

It will also allow you to finish projects in a different way. So be creative on how you're using your time and how you're feeling empowered about the time that you do have available based on the things that you're wanting to get done.

Number three, the third way that you can become more empowered is by paying attention to what you are consuming. And I'm not just talking about food. Food is obviously something you want to pay attention to as well. But what I'm talking about in consumption is what you're watching, what you're reading, and who you're hanging out with. Your time is super valuable and your consumption influences the way you perceive yourself. It influences the way that you feel about your life. It influences your time and how you continue to spend your time. And one of the things that I want to encourage you to do is stop watching and consuming things online and on TV and in articles that make you feel bad.

If you're watching, let's say a movie where someone is super self-destructive, let's say you're watching a movie and this person has no self-worth or you're watching a reality show, that's a better example. You're watching a reality show and the people on the reality show are having a hard time with self-worth and they have very destructive behaviors. That is going to influence the way that you think about yourself. It's going to ingrain some of the self-worthiness that you may be having a hard time with. So watching what you consume, delete people from your apps, from your friend list, from your telephone that doesn't serve your highest good. It is okay to get out of relationships where someone is not assisting you in growing. Sometimes we get stuck in relationships where the other person is super negative and then we get in that negative loop as well. And so looking at how you're spending your time is going to impact your self-worth.

Also when you are eating. Since I was talking about food in the beginning too, the way that you eat also is going to impact your self-worth as well. Notice if you're eating something super healthy and we all have a different term of what healthy food options are. My perception of a healthy food option might be different than your perception. And so listening to everybody's perceptions online around food can also make it very hard and very confusing on what we view as healthy and not healthy. You got to check in with yourself. This goes back to number one again, taking responsibility for your own life, taking charge of your own life. Not everything you read online is the gospel. Not everything you consume or you hear from a friend or a family member is the gospel and is the truth for you. It's really important to decipher and be very selective on what it is that you're consuming and what it is that you're taking on as truth.

Not everything is the truth for you. Now it could be the truth for me. And that is okay if it's slightly different or completely different. And there is nothing wrong with that. We all have different bodies, different experiences, and different genes, and what may work for me might not work for you. And so find things that do work for you and be very selective on what it is that you're consuming on all levels. On all levels.

The next way that I want to talk about is taking care of yourself. So this involves self-care and self-love. No one can love you the way that you love yourself. This goes back to number one as well. Everything keeps going back to number one. Take charge of your own life. If you want to feel more empowered, you got to love yourself. And I know this can be a really hard thing for some of you out there.

You have to love yourself. And it can start with just a simple thing is I love myself. I love and approve of myself. That's from Louise Hay. If you've never heard of the book, this is a super powerful book. It's a book that completely changed my life, which is How to Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. And there's a mantra that she teaches in this book, and that is "I love and approve of myself. I love and approve of myself." And if you can say this in the mirror to yourself, super-duper duper powerful. This particular statement will help you start approving of yourself.
It will help you start shifting your vibration. It will help you start looking at and viewing yourself through the lens of love. You deserve to be loved just as much as you love everybody else in your life. Please start giving yourself as much self-love as you possibly can.

And that goes back into all the other ways that I talked about with empowerment. That is consumption. That is time, that is worthiness and self-talk, and that's taking charge of your own life. Loving yourself is an endless practice. It's a practice. It's a practice that will evolve as you evolve. And the way that you love yourself now will look different than the way that you love yourself later on in life. And it starts with just the simple act of saying, "I'm going to love myself. I'm going to improve myself, I am going to make sure that I am taking deep care of myself." Because when you take care of yourself, you can take care of others.

You have to take care of yourself from a full cup. And when you take care of yourself from a full cup, you can take care of others in your life differently. And you'll also have a different experience in a relationship with them as well. Take time out for self-care. Now, a lot of people think that self-care practices have to look like bubble baths. They have to look a particular way.
Self-care could be you taking time at the end of the day and just expressing gratitude for the littlest things that you love. Also, self-care is taking care of your body, exercising, and eating well. Also, self-care is with relationships. Are you finding that your relationship bucket is being filled? If not, how can you change that? We need to be in relationships with people that lift us as well, that don't drag us down. And so if it's time to reevaluate your relationships, self-care could mean finding new relationships and getting into different groups or activities where you're being surrounded by like-minded people and like-minded communities that you're interested in. That is a self-care practice as well.

The other type of self-care practice that I personally love and I know you guys have heard me say this is meditation. That is one of the ways that you can love yourself deeply. And the more that you make tons of time to sit with yourself, the more you're going to start to notice what is bothering you from the inside out. It also gives you the opportunity to really stand in your power in a different way because you're not running away from your thoughts. You're not running away from your worries. You're addressing whatever problem you're having head-on because you're taking the time to be with yourself.
I know out there a lot of people have a hard time being with themselves, but guess what? You're stuck with yourself for the rest of your life. You truly are. So you might as well start loving yourself. You might as well start taking care of yourself. You might as well start going inward so you can have a different relationship with yourself because you definitely deserve it. And why not love yourself so deeply? Because you got to hang out with you. And if you love yourself deeply, the reality that you're in will start to shift. You'll start manifesting the things that you truly desire in your life as well.

Which brings me to my last way of self-empowerment. And that is gratitude. And you also start noticing the littlest things that bring you joy and bring you happiness. That will also increase your self-worth and self-empowerment. And they just keep feeding you and feeding you and feeding you. You deserve to stand in your power in a very humble way.

You deserve to feel that you are worthy to have anything you want and to create the life that you want and to have the relationships you want. You also deserve to spend time on the things that you are excited about and with the people that you are excited about spending time with. You also deserve to be selective on what you consume and what you don't want to consume. You also deserve to take deep care of yourself and to love yourself unconditionally inside and out, the good parts, the bad parts, the shadow parts, the indifferent parts. You deserve to love all parts of you because you're magnificent and you're a miracle.

I want you to feel empowered. And right now what we're going to do is we're going to say out loud, loud and proud. If you're in a space where you can't say it out loud, you could say it internally, but I want you to say it loud and proud internally, but you're going to say, "I am empowered. I am empowered. I am empowered. I am empowered."
