Episode 163: Soul Chats with Matt Kahn | How to Start a Spiritual Journey

In this podcast, we talk about spirituality, the awakening process, mental health, and how to start a spiritual journey.

Today, I have an amazing SoulChat interview with Matt Kahn, a renowned spiritual teacher, highly acclaimed empath, and bestselling author known for his transformative insights into the journey of awakening.

His teachings focus on love as the ultimate path to self-realization, emphasizing emotional freedom and the power of self-awareness.

His books, including the spiritual classic “Whatever Arises, Love That,” along with his other recorded teachings, have inspired millions, earning him a dedicated following worldwide.

He also has a beautiful documentary that I had the pleasure of viewing, and you can watch it too.

I’ll link the documentary in the show notes of the Podcast. It’s absolutely free.

One of the reasons I’m so excited to share this episode with you is because we talk about the ego and spirituality.

I love Matt’s approach to not vanishing the ego, as I strongly believe in befreanding the ego.

We also discuss how cooking can become a spiritual practice, delve into his documentary, and explore AI and the next wave of awakening.

This conversation was fascinating. Matt is a super grounded spiritual teacher, healer, and mentor.

🌌 Matt’s Spiritual Experiences and Universal Wisdom

Matt began having spiritual experiences as a young child, around eight years old, which intensified in his early 20s.

He learned everything through his direct experiences with the universe.

When he began working as an intuitive healer, he expected to meet like-minded psychic friends.

However, he soon realized that his understanding, which was deeply rooted in love, often differed from others in the field.

He noticed that many spiritual practices seemed judgmental, which contrasted with his belief that wisdom should always be rooted in love.

He described it as treating oneself with the same kindness one would show a child in pain.

Throughout his life, Matt’s parents encouraged his enthusiasm and energy, helping him find outlets in the performing arts.

As a performer, he learned that his ego could be grounded through artistic expression.

This understanding continued into his spiritual awakening, where he realized that the ego was not something to be discarded but rather an integral part of his journey.

The challenges he faced were necessary steps towards higher consciousness, much like a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly.

When Matt started communicating with the universe, he never felt that the ego was a problem. Instead, he saw life’s hardships as a preparation for higher consciousness.

His teachings emphasize that the ego is essential, similar to how a caterpillar is necessary for a butterfly to emerge.

He observed that many people in the spiritual field spoke a different language, often not aligned with love.

His experiences were always accompanied by a sense of heavenly love, guiding him to trust his path.

As he developed his approach to teaching, Matt realized that the issue wasn’t the ego itself but the lack of creative outlets for people.

By finding ways to express his creativity and intuition, individuals could ground their energy and become better versions of themselves.

This perspective highlights the importance of wisdom and love being one and the same.

I agree with Matt’s insights. One of my first teachers told me that depression is a cry for creativity.

Our purpose is to create, whether it varies from day to day or remains consistent. This creative process feeds our soul and shapes our reality.

Matt’s explanation of the ego in his documentary is profound.

📄 Healing Sessions

I had the pleasure of discussing the remarkable documentary “Healed by Love” with Matt Kahn.

This film is not just a documentary about healing; it’s an experience that heals you as you watch it.

This documentary is absolutely beautiful. It takes people from diverse backgrounds and walks them through healing sessions.

I didn’t just see the sessions; I witnessed the profound outcomes for each person as they engaged in his healing journey.

It’s inspiring to see individuals do the work they’re meant to do and emerge with transformed experiences.

During our discussion, I touched upon how the ego plays a role in our decision-making process.

Once we decide to do something, the ego gets hyper-fixated on holding us accountable.

This is a great way of explaining one of the many functions of the ego, which is to keep us safe while driving our willpower and determination.

When asked what inspired the making of this documentary, he shared two main reasons.

First, he has experienced numerous life-changing transformations in their dialogues with people during events or sessions.

Capturing these moments on film felt like capturing lightning in a bottle.

Second, he is at a transitional phase in his career, shifting towards training and fostering a new generation of healers alongside his wife, Joy.

He believe that everyone going through a healing crisis is being initiated as a healer or awakening their inner healer.

The documentary reveals that being a healer doesn’t necessarily mean opening a healing practice.

Instead, it means having healed and being an open channel through which high vibrational energy flows into the world.

Whether one is a florist, a nanny, a professor, or in any other role, they become conduits of this healing energy, spreading unity consciousness and aiding in the world’s awakening.

🤝 Empowering Others in Their Healing Journey

One crucial point I want to emphasize is the misconception about the role of a healer.

Many people give their power away to the healer, expecting them to do all the work.

However, healers are merely facilitators.

They open a window or a door for you to step through, assisting you in freeing yourself and recognizing that you have the power to heal yourself.

Ultimately, the person seeking inner healing holds the keys and must walk through the door themselves.

In Matt’s documentary, he shared his experience of not wanting to be seen as a healer-rescuer but rather as someone who empowers others.

This perspective shift is significant because it puts the responsibility and power back into the hands of the individual seeking healing.

Reflecting on my journey, I’ve always seen myself as a tour guide through the wilderness of various stages of awakening and healing.

This viewpoint has shaped my approach to my work. I’ve had profound experiences with death and awakening, which have given me a unique relationship with death.

I often describe my life as sitting in the doorway of death, viewing life from that perspective, and dancing with death daily.

This relationship with death has made me realize that I don’t want to spend my life creating work that leaves people reliant on me.

Instead, I want to prepare people to find themselves, be themselves, and remember themselves.

I aim to leave the world more loving and prepared, not a world that relies on me.

This realization has influenced how I approach my role as a healer. When you become popular, people tend to put you on a pedestal.

My responsibility is to find the most loving way to give people their power back.

As someone well-known, I have the opportunity to guide and influence positively.

I want to lead the way for a new paradigm of healers who are not rescuers.

Early in my career, I felt validated by helping others in ways that made me feel like an energetic drug dealer, giving people a “boost” when they needed it.

Over time, I realized that I want people to know the infinite source within themselves and not rely on me as their source of energy.

This journey has become even more fulfilling since partnering with my wife, Joy.

Together, we aim to help healers become better healers and create protocols to support people in their healing journeys.

We want to ensure reliable support for those going through a healing crisis.

Spirituality is evolving, and I want to contribute to a spiritual community rooted in health and wellness.

For instance, I’ve been following the Lion Diet, consisting of animal protein, salt, and water, for autoimmune reasons.

Despite my initial reservations about the lack of variety and flair, this diet has been beneficial.

It has also sparked conversations about spirituality and diet, challenging the notion that a spiritual life requires being vegetarian or vegan.

Everyone’s body is different, and we must trust our bodies and follow what works best for us.

Ultimately, the work we do is about creating a spiritual and holistic model that supports health and wellness.

It’s about recognizing our unique journeys and the importance of individualized approaches.

🙏 Spirituality and Personal Wellness

Our discussion took an intriguing turn as we explored my personal journey with the Akashic Records.

For those unfamiliar, the Akashic Records are a compendium of universal events, thoughts, words, emotions, and intent ever to have occurred in the past, present, or future.

This repository of spiritual knowledge has been a significant part of my life and work, even before I fully understood what the Akashic Records were.

The Akashic Records are the source of the intuitive information I channel.

Since childhood, I have been accessing these records, although I didn’t initially recognize them as such.

Over time, as I met my spiritual guides—Melchizedek, Archangel Michael, Mother Mary, Jesus, and others—they led me to deeper experiences with the Akashic Records.

One particularly memorable experience involved what I can only describe as an astral projection.

With my eyes closed, I envisioned myself walking up steps reminiscent of the Lincoln Memorial, flanked by grand white pillars, evoking a sense of ancient Roman architecture.

At the top, a brilliant light table awaited, surrounded by my guides. This was my first conscious encounter with the Akashic Records.

Further experiences brought me into a vast, ethereal library—the way the Akashic Records manifest to me.

Every time I channel information during an interview or with a group, I am accessing these files within the Akashic Records.

This process is highly specific and structured, something that fascinates and grounds me in my spiritual practice.

The universe has consistently provided me with the knowledge I need when I need it, and I have learned to ask countless questions along the way.

This journey is ongoing, and every interaction with the Akashic Records deepens my understanding and connection to the universe.

In the broader context of our work, the Akashic Records provide invaluable insights and guidance, helping us navigate our paths and empowering us to heal and grow.

Whether you’re familiar with the Akashic Records or just beginning to explore them, I encourage you to trust the process and remain open to the profound wisdom they offer.

✨ Matt’s Changing Relationship with His Guides

Matt shared his profound journey of seeking wisdom from the Ascended Masters, highlighting the importance of relentless inquiry and an open heart.

For him, education came not from traditional means but from a continuous stream of questions directed towards the higher realms.

This pursuit of wisdom, intertwined with love, had been a guiding force for over 18 years, shaping his understanding of the spiritual landscape.

As we explored the concept of the Akashic Records, he described his experiences of interacting with guides and accessing information.

What stood out was his observation of the diverse ways individuals perceive the records, ranging from visualizations of libraries to experiences akin to walking through ancient forests.

This diversity spoke to the adaptability of the guardians, who meet each seeker where they are in their consciousness journey.

Our conversation then shifted towards his evolving relationship with his guides, particularly a profound shift in his experience over the past few years.

He described a process of integration, where the frequencies represented by his guides collapsed into their being, leading to a deep sense of embodied presence.

What struck me was his willingness to embrace uncertainty and surrender to the process of transformation, even when it challenged his deeply held beliefs and identities.

He spoke candidly about moments of doubt and fear, especially during a period of existential crisis where they questioned the very foundation of his spiritual connection.

As we delved deeper into the broader landscape of spiritual awakening, he shared insights into the concept of ascension, delineating between different waves of awakening and evolution.

He described a multi-dimensional process where individuals acclimate to higher states of consciousness, each wave representing a unique stage in humanity’s collective evolution.

His journey of spiritual awakening was not just a personal quest for enlightenment but a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

In navigating the complexities of ascension and integration, they embodied the qualities of trust, surrender, and compassion, inspiring us all to embrace our own paths with courage and grace.

A powerful reminder of the transformative potential inherent in the journey of spiritual growth.

It is a journey marked by challenges and uncertainties, but also by moments of profound insight and awakening.

🧑‍💻 Technology Addiction and Maintaining Psychic Endurance

Matt candidly shared the struggles he encountered in confronting technology addiction, revealing its insidious impact on attention span and psychic abilities.

The metaphor of living as a “Psychic Olympic Athlete” resonated deeply, symbolizing the deliberate intentionality required to navigate the complexities of the digital landscape while remaining anchored in spiritual authenticity.

His unwavering commitment to prioritizing activities that nurtured his spiritual connection embodied a profound understanding of the intrinsic harmony between inner and outer technologies.

As our dialogue progressed, we ventured into deeper realms of inquiry, exploring the broader societal implications of technology addiction and its impact on humanity’s collective evolution.

He offered astute observations and nuanced reflections, shedding light on the broader cultural shifts unfolding amidst the rapid advancement of technology.

His insights transcended the personal realm, illuminating the interconnectedness between individual spiritual growth and the broader cultural landscape.

Throughout our conversation, we underscored the imperative of conscious engagement with technology, recognizing its dual potential to either enhance or hinder our spiritual evolution.

His insights served as a poignant reminder of the significance of mindfulness and discernment in our interactions with technology, urging us to prioritize inner technology—consciousness—over external distractions.

I had so much fun talking to Matt because when we talk to other mentors and spiritual teachers in the community, it’s a great way to connect communities and to raise our consciousness and to see what’s possible.

We are all in this together, and I want to congratulate you on diving deep into your spirituality and to continue to learn because it is so important to keep on going, to keep on diving, and to keep on learning.

One of the reasons why I’m so excited to share this interview with you is because we talk about the ego and spirituality. And I love Matt’s approach to not vanishing the ego because I’m a big believer in that. We also talk about cooking and how it become a spiritual practice. We, of course, talk about his documentary, and we talk about AI and the next wave of awakening. I found this conversation fascinating. Matt is a super grounded spiritual teacher, healer, mentor, and I can’t wait for you to dive in. So let’s jump into the interview. Matt, I’m so excited to have today on the show. Welcome.

Matthew
Well, thanks for having me. It’s an honor to be here.

Amy
Well, I’m super excited. You have an interesting background that I… While I was watching your documentary, you have similar belief systems in working with the ego that I have. I’m a big fan of not vanishing the ego. I’m a big fan of actually befriending the ego.

Matthew
Yes.

Amy
Tell me about your journey with your ego and how that has influenced your work and your own relationship with yourself.

Matthew
Yeah, it’s really interesting. I began having spiritual experiences when I was a very young child, around eight years old, and they really ramped up in my early 20s. I learned everything just from my experiences with the universe. And when I started to bring my work to the world, and I was working as an intuitive healer, and I thought I was going to meet all my psychic superhero friends. I just learned what I learned from the universe. I had never really studied any other path or knew any other approach. And when I started talking to other people in the field, I got really confused. The way I was taught and the way things were perceived or approached seemed really, really different. Everything that I had been taught always followed the standard of its wisdom that is always equally rooted in love. One of the ways I describe it for many years is if it’s not how you would treat a child in pain. It shouldn’t be the way you talk to yourself. I would notice a lot of people in the name of healing would treat themselves in a very judgmental way. A lot of spirituality, to me, came across in a very judgmental tone where it seemed like there was a version of wisdom that seemed more wise than love.

Matthew
And that’s never been my experience with the universe. And so I began to realize, I thought about it, going, Gosh, either I’m on to something or I’m wildly crazy, and I have no business in this field whatsoever. But it’s interesting how my journey with the universe echoed my upbringing, where instead of having parents that squashed my enthusiasm or tried to dull down my energy, they just helped me find outlets for it. From a young age, I’ve been a performer. The ego can be a performer in your life and what you do is gain popularity and gain approval. But I was legitimately a performer on stage. I was an actor, and I was in a singing and dancing group growing up. I always had the outlet of performing arts. I think that as a performer, it gave me the opportunity to see that some of the energy of my ego could ground if it had outlets of expression, if I had artistic expression as a writer, as a performer. Then when I went through Awakening and was having direct conversations with the universe, they’re never, in my experience, even before I started having intuitions, there was never an experience of my ego is the problem.

Matthew
It’s what’s in the way. My experience was always just, life is hard, and I feel the way I feel, and I really don’t know why. As I came into various wakenings and started channeling universal wisdom, I started learning about, wow, all of this was a set up for a graduation to a higher level of consciousness. The hardship of my life was the construction, the flaking away of a cocoon, the dissolving of a caterpillar, the birth of a butterfly. But nowhere in that was there ever a sense in myself or from my guidance that you must get away from or ditch this thing called ego, that it was actually always a part of the process, just in the same way the caterpillar is necessary for the butterfly to emerge. When I came into this field and I started talking to people that I thought were my I really got confused and I didn’t really understand. It seemed like we were all talking a different language, which, of course, is wonderful because everyone resonates with what they resonate with. But it just struck me that there were approaches that weren’t always aligned with love. My experience has always been that every piece of wisdom, every experience I’ve had, has always come with this very specific feeling of heavenly love, which is how I always knew to trust it.

Matthew
As I began teaching and developing the way I work with people, it always came with this sense of, and just like in my upbringing, I could look at many people and say, it’s not really the ego that’s the issue, it’s the lack of outlet they have for the energy that’s within them. As all of us find outlets for our creativity, for our intuition, for our desire to serve, we really start grounding and becoming a different version of ourselves, not because we’re going to get rid of a certain part, but because that part has been given an opportunity, a platform, or a way to express itself in our life. And I think that’s, in today’s day and age, such a fundamental truth that can help us find our way back to a level of connection where wisdom and love can be one and the same.

Amy
I think that’s absolutely true. And so beautifully said, because one of my very first teachers said, Depression is always a cry for creativity. And one of the things that we’re meant to be doing is not one thing, it’s what we’re here to do, and that is to create. And what we’re creating from chapter to chapter or from day to day can look different or be the same, but it’s what feeds our soul and paints the canvas of our reality. And I think that that’s a really important thing. And I love that you explain the ego in your documentary. And go ahead and tell everybody what your documentary is called again.

Matthew
It’s called… Glad I can remember it. It’s called Healed by Love. And it’s funny when you said that, I’m like, Oh, my God, what’s the title? Healed by Love is It’s a documentary. It’s not… Oh, there’s that funny thing. It’s not just a documentary about healing, but it’s a documentary that heals you as you watch it. I’m so proud of the work my team and I have done in just birthing this creation for the world.

Amy
First off, this documentary is absolutely beautiful. I love that you took people from different backgrounds and walked them through a session. I love that we didn’t only get to see the session. We got to see a beautiful outcome for each person by doing the work that they’re meant to be doing so that they could have a different experience. I think that’s really awesome. Going back to what I was saying beforehand, though, was I love that you were talking how the ego, once you decide to do something, the ego gets hyper fixated on holding you accountable to do it. And I think that that’s a really great way of explaining one of the many jobs that the ego has because our ego is here to keep us safe, but it’s part of it sits in drive and will, which is really cool to see and to witness. What made you decide to make the documentary century?

Matthew
I think it was because… Well, a couple of different reasons. Two reasons. One is because I think that there have been so many really life-changing transformations that happen in dialogs with me during events or in sessions. And we’ve always said, God, I wish we could have filmed that, that we would have captured lightning in a bottle. So we’ve always wanted to do that. And then also, I think it was because it’s during a time in my career where I feel like I’m really in a transition. And I’ve been working for so many years with people in various levels of their healing journeys, awakening, and transformation, and integration, which I still do. But a big part of my career and where it’s transitioning, especially the work I’m doing with my now wife, Joy, is we both really have this desire of, of course, still doing the traditional healing work we’ve always done, but we want to have special programs. We want to be able to help train and foster the new generation of healers. And what we’ve come to realize is that most people, in fact, all people that are going through a healing crisis are being initiated as healers or their inner healer is being initiated.

Matt
Not everyone’s going to work as a healer and open up a shop and say, Matt Kohn, healing store, whatever. But the understanding is when you are a healer, it means you are one who has healed, which means you’ve been initiated. And whether you’re a florist, a nanny, a student, a professor, a corporate executive, or a holistic practitioner of any modality, you become an open door through which the universe can pour high vibrational energy through your body and into the world. So really, the healing journey is where we transform from being a closed window to an open doorway to allow the light of spirit to enter our world. So If you spend all day being a florist, you are sharing high vibrational energy with all the plants that people buy and take home, or that you pass along to all your customers, or if you’re serving food at a restaurant, or if you’re a barista. The understanding is what role you play is just part of a play, like a performance that puts you in the same space of the people you’re there to pass along high vibrational energy to. And as we go through our healing crisis, as we’re initiated as healers, no matter what we’re doing with our life, we are using that as a way of passing along this energy of unity consciousness to help our world awake.

Matt
One of the interesting things about the documentary is when I’m working with people, I’m actually working with them in a very different way, where instead of it just being, Hey, I’m this practitioner, and I’m here to help you heal, I’m actually speaking to each person in the documentary as someone who’s being initiated or awakening their inner healer. So I’m a healer helping other healers across the threshold into full initiation. So no matter what we choose to do with our lives, it can be a platform to bring this new energy to the planet for everyone’s awakening, for everyone’s healing, for everyone’s salvation, for everyone’s sovereignty. And so at a time where I felt like it was really important for me not just to be this well-known healer on this platform and all that stuff. It’s really a chance for us to lift everyone up and for us all to be healers who are walking each other home, as the famous phrase is, and to really use my abilities to help other healers learn what it means to get to the other side of their healing journey. I felt like it just felt like such a fresh perspective.

Matt
It felt like something great to really capture in this film. And so it’s really just the beginning of what I truly believe is going to be the new language and a new approach for all of us in this new Earth that’s awakening.

Amy
I think, one, it’s beautiful, and two, so many people give their power away to the healer. You’re going to a healer, and they are not doing your work. They’re opening a window, opening a door for you to step through that will assist you in freeing yourself and recognizing you have the power to heal yourself. Because ultimately, the person that is seeking healing is the only person that holds the keys to the door and can walk through. And I love that you said in the documentary that it sounded like you were having another dark night of the Soul type of experience where you’re like, I don’t want to be the healer that is in charge of healing someone. The exact words you said was, and paraphrasing, I don’t want to be seen as the healer that is a rescuer, but empowering others. And I think that that’s so true, because I’ve sat with this myself as a healer, where I’m not rescuing you, and don’t put that on me, because it’s a hard pedestal to stand on and fall off of, because I’m not in charge of rescuing you. What I’m assisting in, and what healers are assisting is, is supporting you in healing and understanding that you are the one that’s rescuing you.

Matt
Absolutely. Yeah. And I’ve always seen myself as more of a tour guide through the wilderness of various stages of awakening and healing. And I think one day when I was really coming about this, I thought about it. And I think about death a lot. I’ve had experiences with death and awakening. And when you go through deep awakened, you have a really different relationship with death. So I feel like I describe my life as, I sit in the doorway of death. That’s where I live and I view life from. And I dance with death every day, and it’s a very beautiful relationship. So I think about death a lot, and I don’t want to leave planet. I just am fascinated by it. And so I remember I was thinking one day and I thought, I don’t want to spend the rest of my life creating the type of work where the day that I meant to leave the planet, people are so sad because… I would rather leave the planet knowing that, yes, we’ve spent time together and I’ve prepared people with what they need to find themselves, to be themselves, and to remember themselves. I want to leave a world more loving than I found it, and I want to leave a world that’s prepared, not a world that relies on me.

Matt
And so I think when I really start feeling into that, because I can meet the world in a very equal place, and I don’t come from a hierarchical structure. But when you become very popular, people put you on a certain pedestal. And my job as someone who’s responsible power is always to find the most loving way to give people their power back, which I focus on a lot. It’s a great responsibility to play the role that we play, especially when you become very well known. So I just felt like if I’m well known and I’ve been given a power, then that gives me the opportunity to guide and influence in a positive way. And I would love to be able to help lead the way for a new paradigm of healers where we’re not rescuers. I remember when I first started healing, I’d have people that would call me and go, Hey, can you give me a little boost of energy? I’m going for this job interview. And because I was defined by… And I didn’t fully accept what I could do. I was validated by, I guess what I do is real. Oh, yes, let me give you a little bump of energy or this and that.

Matt
And I started over time to feel like I was an energetic drug dealer.

Amy
Oh, my God. That’s such a good way of putting it.

Matt
Right? I started like an energetic drug dealer and like, Hey, man, give me a little bump. I got my family coming in town. I get a little bump. Can you just walk Archangel Michael. Just a little whiff of Archangel Michael. Can you just…

Amy
I appreciate the humor in it, though, because it’s true.

Matt
It’s so funny. At the same time, I realized that I want people to know the spirit within themselves. I want them to know there’s an infinite source within themselves. Of course, I depicted a certain way. I’m a certain frequency. I have a way of talking about it and with my humor and with being very loving. And yet there’s an equally unique source that’s going to animate itself totally different in every single person. And so it just became very important to me of learning the difference in the last, I would say 5-10 years. It’s really become very clear to me the difference between the role of a healer and the role of a rescuer. And I think when I really healed my deep-rooted familial patterns of codependency is when I really started to see it. And it’s when I went from doing incredible work to doing amazing work, and I just feel like the work I’m doing now, especially with my wife and I partnering up, we just got married, I feel like I’m doing the work that fulfills me on the deepest level, even though the work I’ve always done, I really am proud of.

Matt
But I’m really quite just fulfilled in what’s being offered and how it’s being offered and how it’s being language. It’s been quite a journey.

Amy
I love that. The thing is, I always say this, is the type of work that we do, you can recreate anything that you want. So if you’re bored or you’re not happy with how you’re doing it or you’re ready for the phase, you can go and do it, which is awesome. And I’m so excited for you in the next phase that you’re in because it is nice to partner up and you get to do it with your lovely wife, which congratulations on that.

Matt
Thank you. We have a lot of plans and a lot of things we want to do differently because I for both of us, we’re both very creative, artistic people. So for me, there became this… As a creative person, I think of myself as an artist, you have to continually recreate your art. For me, I love to cook, for example, and I channel cooking. I channel recipes. I want to demonstrate that. I want to combine cooking in that eventually. I want to help healers become better healers. I would love to help create a protocol so that when healers go through their program, they know how to work with people in a very loving way because I’ve seen a lot of different ways people work with people. Oh, yes. And I just think, as we all could say, create a standard, because when you are someone who’s going through a healing crisis, when you don’t know where to turn and you go into the healing journey, it would be nice to be able to have reliable support. And I think that what’s so fascinating about spirituality, and I think it’s changing in the last five years and things so much is changing that we could talk about, but I think what’s really interesting is where the unprocessed mental imbalances become spiritualized.

Matt
I think to have a holistic model where we can start looking at wellness, like Okay, we’re spiritual people. Are we healthy people? And sometimes our mental unwellness, our emotional unwellness, our physical unwellness can get really hidden in a spiritual counterculture. And I just want to contribute to a spiritual conversation and a spiritual community that’s rooted in health and wellness.

Amy
I love that, Matt, because I think so often you I hear a teacher say XYZ, and I’ll give you an example. Sure. Most of my first teacher said, If you want to live a spiritual life, you have to be a vegetarian. Well, I tried this. I got so unbelievably sick because my body is not built to eat only vegetables and fruit. My body requires animal protein, and if I don’t eat it, I don’t feel good. And so I remember I did a podcast on living a spiritual life and talking about eating animal protein, and people were shocked by it because it’s not something most people hear. And the thing is, you have to do what’s right for your body. And a blanket statement like that doesn’t work for everyone’s genes and everyone’s body. And so you got to trust your own body.

Matt
I totally agree. I mean, I’ve been on the carnival diet for the last four and a half months on a version called the Lion Diet. I’ve actually only been eating animal protein. It’s actually animal protein, salt, and water. And the hardest part for me is that someone who cooks incredibly well. I can cook proteins really well, but it doesn’t give me a lot of flair. For me, not having a sauce or not having anything to judge, I’m like, Oh, this is a little boring. There’s no color, no freshness. But I did it for autoimmune reasons, which my wife is also doing it. So we did it together. A couple of friends of ours also have autoimmune, so we all did it together to support each other. And I’ve heard that conversation, too. I’ve had people come up to me out of the fence and go, Oh, my God, Matt, the energy coming through you is so incredible. You must be vegan. You got to be raw. And I said, Well, as it turns out, and what’s interesting is I remember when I started working in this field and I had people telling me the same thing.

Matt
I took a trip to India and you go to all these ashrams and all these different traditions, and they say what they say. I had a conversation because as an intuitive, I can connect to different realms and Kingdoms. I had a conversation with the animal kingdom, and I said, Look, and I was a meateater at the time, and I said, Look, if you tell me that being vegan is the way to be for the work I’m doing spiritually, if you tell me this, I will raise the flag of veganism, and I will be the most dedicated vegan ever. What the animal kingdom told me is they said, Look, every form gives its life to something greater than itself. Everything is used to feed something in the ecosystem. They said, If you make choices that are humane, every meal, you’re voting for the way you want things to be treated. I don’t wish vegetables to be treated with the spray Roundup, so I buy organic. I don’t wish for animals to be mistreated, so I buy straight direct from farms that are organic, grass-fed, grass-finished, the whole thing. They said, vote with every meal, be grateful, say thank you, and don’t waste.

Matt
That’s how I’ve always lived my life. Now, there have been times in my life where my body, for example, has said, take a week for meat, your liver needs a break. Okay. Then I go a week on plant-based, which I’m very proficient in. I enjoy it. It’s great. Then my body will say, Okay, now go back, but only of X Y and Z. I literally just follow my body. I think that I love what you just said because we’re coming into a day and age where everyone is unique, everyone’s different, and everything has to be incredibly for who we are, the journey we’re on. And to say that one size fits all or you can’t be a high vibe person unless you do this versus that, it’s just part of It’s just another level of ego that we’re all integrating and waking up from.

Amy
Yeah. I appreciate you saying that you’re on Carnival. My husband’s been on Carnival for almost a year now, and he’s healthy. He’s healthier than he ever has been. And he follows Paul Saladino. Do you know who that is? I love him. He’s a big person in Rock, Fear, Honey, adding berries and Having Just Me. So it’s a modified version, again, of carnival. Exactly. All these different versions of one system to follow, right? Yeah. But you got to do what’s best for you and what works for you. And I love that you and your wife are trying something different because auto-mute is a very big thing, and most people suffer from that until you find something that works and gets the condition or whatever it is that’s happening under control. So that’s awesome. In the documentary, I want to go in a little bit of a different direction. Sure. You talked about going into your Akashic Records. I’m a big fan of the Akashic Records. I teach the Akashic Records. I love the Akashic Records. What is your journey with the Akashic Records, and how has the Akashic Records helped you in your life?

Matt
Well, the Akashic Records is what I access whenever I’m channeling intuitive information. I have my entire life, even though I didn’t know what the Akashic Records was. As I started to meet my guides, my first guide, my main guide’s name is Melchizedek, and I would then be introduced to other guides, Archangel Michael, Mother Mary, Jesus, all the the whole cast of characters. I remember one day they… I just thought, Oh, these are the beings that are giving me information. And then they took me on the journey one day, and I guess you can call it an astral projection. I just closed my eyes and went somewhere. I didn’t leave my body, but I went on this little journey, and I found myself walking up what looked to me like the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, had white pillars and just very either Lincoln Memorial or Roman-ish. I walked up the steps and there was a big light table in front of it. In front of this light table were all these beings, these guides I’ve been working with, and they were in front of the Akashic Records. I had this experience with them. Then I would have these other experiences where I’d be guided into the building of the Akashic Records, which to me looks like a big library.

Matt
That’s how it appears to me. It was always very specific. I was always met by what looked like a Gregorium, Florian monk or someone in this like, brown monk robe with the hood up, and you can never see their face.

Amy
I love it.

Matt
And I was told they’re a gatekeeper, and I just go along with everything, right? And they lead me into the Akashic Records. There’s all these rules, and I’m just going along with it. So they lead me to the Akashic Records. They go to a certain book. I don’t touch the book ever. They pull the book out, they open up to a page of a contract, and I put my hand on top, and the energy of my hand comes out and signs the contract. I don’t touch the book. I don’t go snooping around the Akashic Records. It’s a very specific protocol. And every time I’m channeling in an interview or with a group, that’s what I’m… Those are the files I’m pulling and accessing. I’ve really had experiences with the Akashic Records my entire career, and I just live with the universe on a need-to-know basis. It’s exciting when I share it with someone and they go, Yeah, totally. I’m like, Really? That is wild because it’s so specific. I also really love that about the universe. I love the protocol. I love the, They walk me in, they pull the book, they open it up, I put my hand over the book.

Matt
There’s light comes out, activates things, and clears contracts, and integrates timelines. That’s how I’ve always been with the universe is they teach me as I go along and I ask a ton of questions.

Amy
That’s the most important piece.

Matt
Yeah. And that’s how I literally became educated. I would just ask question after question every day. I’d ask sometimes the same questions. And it’s never been wisdom without love. Yes. I’ve never gotten an answer in 18 years. And I talk to the Ascended Masters every day, even though recently my experience is actually shifting, which is interesting. But I talk to them all day in between my life. There’s never been anything in my life, there’s never been a situation from the George Floyd incident to 9/11, where I’ve received wisdom that is less than ever. I’m just grateful for that.

Amy
Well, they’re there. The way I always explain the records is that the guardians, the masters, teachers, loved ones, whatever label they’re, they’re there to offer for wisdom without judgment. Sure. And they just want to love on you. They know that you’re having a human experience, and so they take all of that into account. And I love asking when I hear someone that’s accessing the records, and even my students, because I love hearing how everyone perceives the records because it’s always so different from one another. And some people see libraries. For me, I don’t see anything. I just go out there, they just tell me the information, and we’re good. And then there’s people that it’s like an ancient forest. And so it’s really neat to see because the guardians meet you where you’re at and how your consciousness can understand it in your human experience, which is really cool. Now, you said your experience with the records is starting to shift. Is that something we can talk about?

Matt
Yeah. Really, it’s not with the records. It’s with my experience with my guides. So I’ve had ascended masters walking with me my whole life. Mel Kuzedek is the main guy I talk to, and he looks like Gamma off the Wizard. He talks like my son by tomorrow’s time. He says all these weird fun things. And he says words that I’ve like, and I look it up and I’m like, holy shit, that’s the right usage of a weird word.

Amy
That’s my favorite part of the record is learning new words.

Matt
Yeah, ubiquitous and superlative. And I’m like, whoa, what is that? That’s cool. And so what’s happened in the last couple of years, and it happened. In the documentary was during a time where I was going through another Dark Night of the Soul, and I was going through a time in my life where I’ve gone through many deaths in my life, but this one actually felt like I actually had two years to live. It was just this very… Because I’ve guided people through the death process, and every sign I get came from me, and I was like, I’m dying, and I really felt that. And I wasn’t sure if it was another existential death or a physical death, but went for it. And so in the aftermath of this recent death I went through in the last couple of years, my experience with my guides are changing to where the frequencies that each of my guides represents have been integrated into my field. And it’s as if their likeness as these beings are not disappearing away from me, but they’re collapsing into me, where I’m becoming just a living transmission of what I embody. I’m still pulling from the Akashic records, but instead of it being me having a conversation with my guides as intermediaries, it’s starting to become just this embodied presence.

Matt
It started with… I’ve had many experiences of remembering past lives over my lifetime. Then I went through an awakening where I realized that remembering past lives is one floor of the building, and then the next level above that is when you’ve integrated a certain percentage of the wisdom of those lifetimes where even that starts to disappear. I started to experience this lifetime as my first and only lifetime, which then I realized was what it means to be born again, spiritually. I now live in this experience where the past lives I felt like, Oh, my God, I used to be this or that happened to me. That feels like a dream I woke up out of. And not that it was never not true. It’s just for every human being, what’s true at one level of the building becomes a dream you wake up out of at the next level of building. So every level changes. And so I am in this place where I feel like I’m in my first and only lifetime. My sense of past, not even just my life, but just has no existence whatsoever. It’s very difficult for me to think about the past I still have communication with my guides, but it’s less and less frequent.

Matt
It’s the analogy of I’m on a vision quest, and my chamans that have been guiding me are backing up and backing up so I can just be one with myself.

Amy
I love that, and it requires a tremendous amount of trust and a tremendous amount of surrendering, because if you’re going through that, what happens is sometimes, What happened to my gifts? Why am I not hearing from my guides? It’s not that they’ve gone away. It’s just sometimes you graduate or you’re coming into a new frequency or a new residence with yourself relationship with creation, God, whatever sacred title you give that being. You’re recognizing that within yourself, too, which is really me.

Matt
Well, there was a five-year process, even like many… I’d go back seven years. I went through a really big emotional time in my life, and it led up to this death. But I went through this process where I had developed a way I worked with my intuition. Then I went through an awakening where the whole way I worked my intuition disappeared. As I was teaching in front of audiences and doing calls, I had to learn how to use my intuition without using my intuition, which is listening to empty space, listening to silent air, and just allowing out of nothing the information to come, but without your intuitive ego, that process doing It was really scary. This is something I’ve never talked about publicly. This is so funny, though. It was to a point where I thought, Am I still going to do this work or is this just game over? To the point where I came up with the idea that if this is over, I’m going to write a book called Dumped by God. I had a plan. I was going to write a book called Dumped by God. And what happens when your connection to the universe graduates to such a level that there’s no sense of separation, and it’s as if the phenomenon or your sense of how you do it is gone.

Matt
I’ve gone through this really incredible integration process, and it’s led to this tremendous embodiment. But if you’re attached to the way things are, and if you’re an intuitive, you’re super reliant and attached to the way things are. What’s interesting is there’s not a lot of things I’m attached to in this world, but I was attached to my intuitive process. That was one of the scariest but most worthwhile experiences I went through where I’d literally be in front of audiences. I don’t want to I don’t think anyone really knew that I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to do what I had built my entire livelihood on being able to do.

Amy
Yeah. And that’s scary. It’s super scary. And thank you for sharing that because I think that this is so normal in terms of when you are doing the work. I know so often I will go through these upgrades where it’s like, Man, this is so different than how I’ve always done it. And it’s like, Okay, I’m going to surrender to the process. Tell me how you want me to do it because I got to just trust. And the best thing to do is just trust. And a beginner student or even someone that’s been on the path for a while, that’s the last thing you want to hear is just trust. Just trust.

Matt
They’ll all be Just trust. Just let go. And what’s amazing is that for me, there wasn’t even a sense of anything to let go of. There wasn’t even a sense of anything to trust. Like all that, both sides had gone. There wasn’t anything to surrender to. There wasn’t anything to let go of. There was nothing on either side. And there wasn’t even a me that was free-falling. So it was just empty space, just sitting in front of either a person or an audience. I would just sit there, and then it would happen somehow, of course. And every time it would, it would start to create this deeper level of purity. So it was an interesting process. I think what’s fascinating, and I think this is so important for anyone to learn, whether you’re an intuitive, whether you’re healing or wherever you are, just when you think you understand how the universe works, you then move to a different timeline or a different perspective where it works differently. You figure out middle school, now it’s time for high school. You figure out high school, now it’s time for college. You have to keep rediscovering new way or that things only work for certain levels, and it’s to keep us open and curious.

Matt
The last I’d want for anyone is to formulate a belief system and to lock in place. This is how it works. When I see people do this, especially as healers or practitioners, you watch those people with their family and they become rescuers, and they become correctors. One of the greatest gifts I was given is I was given a family that, by and large, didn’t understand what I did and didn’t really care about what I did. Spiritually, they cared about me. It was the divine dressed up as people that said, Don’t overlook your human beingness and learn to have a conversation where I could help support their healing without using spiritual jargon, without needing them to come to my side of the fence, without me needing to shift a belief pattern. Then I also realized way early in the game, and this was something I was really grateful for, I used to think that having spiritual conversations was deep connection. What I realized is I was just comfortable overly processing my life that if I couldn’t process with someone, we weren’t going deep enough. Then I woke up out of that. Oh, my goodness. I love it.

Matt
It was so profound where for me, the graduation was small talk is still deep connection based on how deeply I listen or how deeply I’m connecting with someone. And there was no longer this limitation of, I have to dumpster dive into my stuff or your stuff to feel like we’re having a deep connection. And it was so liberating.

Amy
I love that, Matt, because one, that’s exhausting.

Matt
It’s exhausting.

Amy
It’s so exhausting having to constantly look for that deep connection when just talking about making a chocolate cake can be fun. It can be fun. It’s how you choose to perceive and how much you want to listen to what’s happening. So I love that. That’s awesome. So great, because I think that the pendulum can swing so many different directions when you’re on a spiritual path. And when you’re on this path, sometimes people get sucked into that vortex and that belief system that if you’re not spiritual, we can’t be friends. Or If you’re not on my level and you’re not doing this type of work, I need to fix you or we can’t do this anymore. And it has nothing to do with that. It has to do with just being okay with being present.

Matt
Totally. I mean, most of my good friends, we joke and say we’re all recovering spiritual beings, and we’re all artists and creative people, and we all get together. We laugh, we cook, we talk about silly things, we talk about recipes. And if someone needs support, we’re always there. But it doesn’t happen as often as in the spiritual path. When we focus on these subjects, we think that this is the hyper focus or this becomes the new compulsion, and then that becomes the next dream to wake up out of. It’s one thing you’re in your spiritual path and you’re just absorbed, you’re excited, you’re learning, you’re innundated. But when you’re starting to integrate, it’s one thing to eat a delicious meal, but then you got to digest it. Then you have to have space from the meal. If I go to a buffet, I can’t just eat all day. I’ve got to digest it. Digesting and assimilating spirituality is different than devouring it. I think if we learn how to savor it and not devour it, it really makes our experience incredibly, I would say more rewarding. I think that it’s enough that when you start waking up in spirituality, it feels like the wallpaper of life is falling to the ground, and it’s so existential.

Matt
It’s really an opportunity to transform the human that we are and not sidestep it. I just think in this new paradigm, there’s so many of us that are being ushered in to model a more responsible and less impulsive or immature version of what this has been. Again, it’s just the maturing and graduation and the refining of this, and I’m just very happy to see it happening in so many different ways.

Amy
It’s cool to I witnessed. Now, I’m sure that you have heard this and you are witnessing it. We’re all waking up. Where do you see or have you gotten downloads or visions or messages around where we’re going, where this golden age is going and what that looks like. There’s so many different interpretations of what that is. Again, it’s all perceived through that person’s perception as well. I find where we’re going to be very fascinating, so I’m interested it to hear what your perception is of it.

Matt
Right. Well, I’ve seen ascension happening in waves, like the first, second, and third wave of ascension. The first wave of ascension are beings that are moving as acclimating into fifth dimensional unity consciousness. If you’re acclimating into unity consciousness, you’re becoming aware of how the state of the world is creating more space for high frequency light to emerge. We’re also looking at how the high frequency energy is also fast forwarding the movie of life, which part of that includes every so many years, the shifting of the poles on the planet, which happens all the time, not because what we do as human beings. But if you’re in the second wave of ascension, if you’re in the fourth dimension, which is the dimension of time, I describe the fourth dimension as the spiritual Burning Man Festival. And so the fourth dimension are the beings who are waking up out of the third dimensional societal rules. But it tends to be like humans against the government or humans against corruption, which is a part of the whole waking up, too. I’m not here to say it’s not a part of it. It’s just the second wave of ascension is looking at the unraveling of the darkness, and the first wave of ascension is looking at the emergence of light.

Matt
And so I look at both. Third wave of ascension are the people that are most likely to, instead of cultivate the technology of consciousness, they’re going to be merging with technology. And these are the people that will want to download Google into their brain and all that stuff. It’s very interesting the way I’ve seen it. And they’re going to be the last to wake up, but they have the biggest journey of overcoming many levels of socialized addiction to open their nervous system up, specifically technology addiction. Technology addiction exists in the second wave of ascension, but it’s very functional. My father was a functional alcoholist. He He was a successful man, but there wasn’t a day in his life where he didn’t have his ritualistic whatever. I think that when we look at the waves of ascension, the truth is we don’t have to defeat or overthrow darkness in order for the light to win. The way I’ve always seen it, the way it’s always been explained to me, is that the light is actually… Well, the darkness works for the light and doesn’t know it, because the darkness is actually giving people a chance to turn inward towards their light and step into their power.

Matt
If every being could step into their power simultaneously, there’d be no more purpose of darkness. We would literally timeline jump, and everything would shift instantaneously, and the planet would literally change overnight within a split second. At the same time, the light is not fighting the darkness. It’s not opposing the darkness. It’s actually rescuing the darkness. It’s rescuing the darkness from its own dream and returning it back to the light that it forgot it that it was. In the way that I’ve seen everything, yes, human humanity is right now in a state of turmoil. We’re watching the collapsing of old structures that aren’t working anymore. We’re watching levels of deception that can’t be pulled over the eyes of humanity anymore. We’re watching what I will call the fall of Rome. It’s very interesting to watch, whether it’s the ego structure of corporations, corporate interest, or politics or whatever. We’re watching people realize the solutions are going to come from a community level, from a grassroots level, as the light awakened in all of us. But the light isn’t fighting darkness. The light is holding space for darkness’s return home and saying, Thank you, darkness. Thank you, for playing the role of turning people back towards their own light.

Matt
I will even say there are people on this planet that have been diving into darkness and either not knowing it or knowing it. And darkness’s is to be a vehicle that leads people straight back to the light eventually. I find it all very interesting. These times feel strangely biblical, but to me, it’s not Armageddon for innocence. It’s Armageddon for the ego structures that are no longer going to run the world.

Amy
Very well said. I I think that it’s a nice way of how you explain that it’s darkness is allowing people to turn inward because so many people are used to expand, expand, expand. Well, actually, even sacred geometry, part of it is pulling in. When you pull in, you actually recognize the whole universe, the whole creation that’s inside of you. You have to be willing to go into that space and collapse inward in order in order to recognize that. So I love how you said that. I want to circle back to one thing you said about addiction. What would you tell someone? Because technology is, it’s designed to give you many dopamine hits. You’re your cell phone, your smartphone, all of that. You have these ticks. And what would you tell someone that is fighting that? Because it is a real thing that people are dealing with now.

Matt
Right. Well, I would say to the degree that are dependent on our smartphones is as dysfunctional as we allow our third eye and crown chakra to be. That consciousness is the original and highest technology. And we’re in a world where technology does create conveniences, and there’s definitely a place for it. But when it is used in a society as distraction, as a way of replacing your connection to your own intuition, and most importantly, especially as intuitives, what I have found is that the addiction people have to technology shortens their attention span. And the reason that’s so incredibly important is that the longer your attention span is, the greater your psychic endurance is. For example, I can go on stage and I can transmit and I can teach and just channel a couple hours, lunch, teach a retreat. By the end of that three-day retreat, I can sit down and do the entire thing I have such endurance because my attention span has been so lengthened, my focus, my presence. It’s something I was trained by the universe to do at a young age. When I started this work, and I started being trained by the universe, and I thought, Look, I might be in training by the universe, or I might be completely batshit crazy.

Matt
We’ll see, right? We’ll see. I developed a level of focus because I used to be… I guess when I was a kid, they would probably have said I was ADHD whatever, but I had zero attention span. I would start something, not finish it. But when I got into spirituality and I was trained by the Ascended Masters, I went into a level of training with them that made my focus and my depth to where when I transmit a teaching or I transmit an energy, the depth that people feel it, the yes, is so deep. It’s because of that attention span. It affects my life where If I’m watching, for example, I like watching professional wrestling. That’s just one of my things I love since I was a kid.

Amy
Have you been geeking out on all the ’80s documentaries of all the wrestlers.

Matt
All of them.

Amy
It was so good.

Matt
All of it. And Russellmania happened a weekend ago or two weekends ago. And that’s a weekend of all these different shows. I got 12 hours of shows to watch. That’s awesome. But what I’m cognizant of is how much time I’m in front of a television because I don’t spend a lot of time in front of a television set. So I’d watch a little bit or I’d prioritize it because I realized, Hey, I want to watch these cool shows. But I start to get this weird feeling, which means it’s affecting my nervous system. It’s going to start wearing on my psychic endurance and shortening my attention span. So I learned to be very aware of how much technology I’m exposed to. I haven’t gone to a movie theater and seen a movie in maybe eight years. And it was the last movie I saw, I came out of the movie theater and I just had this awareness of, I feel like I’m on drugs. I was in front of this huge screen and I feel like I’m just on drugs. And I just I just realized, I don’t think that’s really good for me, personally. And then I was in- That’s good self-awareness.

Matt
Yeah, thank you. I went to Bend, Oregon. I used to live in Bend, Oregon. I walked down and there was this vintage arcade, and I was like, Oh, my God. I haven’t played a video game. And God knows. I walked in, Streetfighter 2. Let’s play Streetfighter, right? Haven’t played that in years. Put a quarter in. Holy crap, the anxiety in my mind. I don’t have anxiety. I literally walked away, I’m like, I can’t do this. I realized for me, even though I still listen to Metallica and I listen to the… But there’s certain things that aren’t good for me. I I have to live my life like a psychic Olympic athlete, where my entire life, my diet, my exercise, and what I expose myself to is all designed to keep my attention span lengthened so I have the most amount of psychic endurance. That’s why I don’t get so tired from the work I do, because I’ve developed that endurance. I find that technology when we just to veg out and we binge watch us, it affects that in us. It affects that in us. And so there’s people that will veg out and watch technology for God knows how many hours or play a game or whatever, and then go, I can’t hear the universe.

Amy
So I think it’s really- Well, you’re programmed. You’re watching a program.

Matt
Exactly. So I think it’s really key that if we’re going to be connected to source, we have to choose which technology we spend more time with. I think if we spend more time with our inner technology, with consciousness, and less reliant on our smartphones and our tablets and whatever apps, whatever it is, I think that’s what’s going to help us really continually make these leaps forward.

Amy
I like that. What’s your sweet spot for television?

Matt
I think my sweet spot, my wife and I both, I think we can watch 30 to 45 minutes a day. There’s certain shows we like. There’s the show on YouTube we watch all the time called Redacted. It’s this news program, and it’s just news, but not with any bias. It’s awesome. We watch that, and it’s like a 90-minute- There’s a lot of cool news programs that are coming out on different platforms. I feel very adult watching that. We watch redacted, but it’s a 90-minute show. We probably get to the 35, 45-minute mark and we just go, You know what? We’re done. We go and we meditate. That’s how we both fall asleep. My wife and I both meditate into sleep.

Amy
I do the same thing. I think it’s one of the most powerful practices because it just makes me feel so good. It’s like my second or third meditation practice of the day, and it makes me feel good. It’s an easy practice to do.

Matt
I think also for me, if I had a day to myself, if I just got out done with the retreat and I have a couple of days off, I have a couple of days off. What I want to do is I want to actually listen to music. I want to go to the grocery store. I want to buy just things that inspire me, and I want to just create dishes. That’s why I do this. I just create. Or like, oh, breakfast, I’m going to make something. We’re going to go to Spain. Then lunch, we’re going to go to France. Then dinner, we’re going to go to Japan. I have different culinary games I created for myself. If we have leftovers, my rule for myself is that I don’t re eat leftovers. I recreate them. So I recreate it into a different way. Oh, I love that. Or if it’s from a certain cuisine or a culture, I then go, okay, let’s change the culture and recreate it, something totally different. I have all these different things. So I would rather spend five hours in the kitchen cooking small meals for myself and my friends. I have my friends coming over in a couple of hours today.

Matt
They happen to be plant-based. They’re like, I hope it’s fun. We can go out for lunch, and I go, No, this is fun for me. I’m cooking a three or four course of… I just made a tofu feta cheese for the first time. I I’m making a watermelon poke and I’m doing coconut rice. For me, this is what I do with my life. So when I’m not serving the world and I have time to myself, what I want to do is be creative.

Amy
And that’s what I love doing. You sound like a kitchen lizard.

Matt
I am a kitchen lizard. Thank you. My wife, she and I both love cooking together. When we first got together, it was such a beautiful thing as a man meeting my beloved now wife, and just this way, one of the many ways I could show love was just creating something and the ability to create for my friends and my family and my wife and to have them just go, Oh, my God, Matt, you should do a show or you should do a cookbook. There’s something about when you love someone by creating something that is so fulfilling, and it’s like surfing a tidal wave. It’s so exhilarating.

Amy
I like that. So you think one day you’ll make a course on cooking?

Matt
Oh, yeah. I would love to. I want to cook books because I want to teach people how to intuitively cook, and not just stream of consciousness where you start throwing things in haphazardly. But just as I channel teachings from the Akashic Records, I was taught to cook intuitively, and I My guides will talk to me when I’m cooking. And there’s certain ways I’ve developed intuitive skills to cook and certain rules of how I cook and the things that I’ve learned. And it’s interesting because when I was a kid, I always thought, and a lot of us probably were raised like this, I thought the more decadent, the more delicious. When I was a kid, it had to be like a cheeseburger with bacon and a taco on top or something, like crazy. There was a point in my life where I actually had a culinary awakening. I’ve had a few of these in my life. I was at a resort, and I had a piece of broiled salmon with a kale salad. It was one of the simplest dishes I’ve ever had in my life. It was the first time in my life that healthy was more decadent or as decadent as something super heavy.

Matt
I went through a culinary awakening where all of a sudden, instead of craving heavy foods, I wanted things to be balanced. I was taught about balanced cohesive dishes and how to cook balanced cohesive dishes and what is balance. It’s really a great metaphor for life, but it changed the way I look at food. It changed the way I cook, and it changes what I crave. It’s been a fascinating journey.

Amy
I think that’s really neat, just because I think food itself is just a a fascinating vehicle in terms of our relationship with it and what that looks like. Some people have healthy, balanced relationships, some people don’t. It just food is nourishment. It’s fuel for your soul that you would need for your physical body. Our relationship with it, I think, is a really important thing to have. When you’re talking about it, I think you light up. It’s so passionate. I love it. Thank you.

Matt
When I started channeling I learned to cook or serve food on side plates for portion control. When I go to a restaurant, if I’m going to go out to a restaurant, and I call it studying, like I study cuisine, I go out to really nice restaurants and I do chef tasting menus because I like very small portions. My biggest pet peeve is too big of a portion. What I love more than anything is something that’s so incredibly delicious. But I only want you to give me… I want you to give me to give me the size of a portion to wish, I wish there was more. I’m almost going to order a second serving, but I don’t, and I think about it for about a week. That’s, to me, the highest level.

Amy
Yeah, I like that because I want at least five or six things on a menu. If they’re small tapas plates, they’re awesome because you get a bite of this, a bite of that, and it’s I think it’s really good. For me, for cooking, I really love baking. I geek out on how can I make this the healthiest thing that I can make. I’ve been trying new flowers, and that is an art form in itself. Because if you’ve only baked with all purpose flour or, let’s say, almond flour or whatever, trying like, popcorn flour, it’s just a totally different beast. I’m like, How do I know? How do we do this?

Matt
Well, I’ll tell you even something else I’m discovering. I now live in Arizona, so I’m now adjusting to different humidity. So when you’re baking, the humidity factor changes everything.

Amy
It changes everything.

Matt
Or even in our oven, my wife’s like, It’s not the same cooking temperature. You got to add a few minutes because of the… And so I’m like, Oh, that’s really interesting. I’m sure when you’re baking, because baking is such a science. And I’ve done a little bit of baking, but I’m mostly into savory. But what I’ve noticed is just the little things, like when an egg is at room temperature.

Amy
Yes.

Matt
Or butter, certain butters, if you make biscuits, have to be straight, cold and graded or melted. Everything has such a specific purpose, and I really love that.

Amy
It’s a fascinating thing. I have a toddler, and so toddlers are in their carb phase, and she eats nothing but carbs, and it’s just the phase that she’s in. I’m constantly trying to figure out how can I get a protein in there and make it fun. It’s been an interesting journey because my inner child is coming back out because I used to love baking and cooking when I was a kid. So it’s a lot of fun. Tell me about how they can watch or get connected to your documentary.

Matt

I think the documentary was done very, very well. I really enjoyed watching it. I’ve enjoyed talking with you. Is there anything else that you’re looking forward to on a personal or professional level that you’re excited about?

Matt
Well, my wife and I are going to write our first book together, so we’re very excited about that. My friends are coming over in a few I’m excited to make some vegan plant-based food for them, which is going to be delicious. But I’m really just excited to watch our world evolve. And what really excites me is that even when it looks like the world is crazy or falling apart, it really is just pieces reassembling in a more conscious and loving way. I’m just excited about the world coming into more loving resonance, and I’m excited about loving the world as it comes into that new alignment.

Amy
It’s exciting to see what’s going to happen soon. I so appreciate you being on today. Thank you very much, everybody. Go check out the documentary. It’s absolutely beautiful. Thanks, Matt.

Matt
Thank you so much.

Amy
All right, my friends, how did you enjoy that? Did you like the part around talking about the Akashic Records or the AI or the the documentary or cooking? What was your biggest takeaway? I had so much fun talking to Matt because when we talk to other mentors and spiritual teachers in the community, I think that it’s a great way to connect communities and to raise our consciousness and to see what’s possible. We are all in this together, and I just want to congratulate you on diving deep into your spirituality and to continue to learn because it is so important to keep on going, to keep on diving, to keep on learning because it is a way to waken. And to have self-reliance. So all right, my friends, if you liked this episode, please make sure you like and subscribe and give us a review. Also share this with a friend. It was a fascinating conversation, and I would love for you to spread the word on it. So all right, friends, have a wonderful day. I will see you in the next one. Bye.
